Aaron Eckhart Talks Harvey Dent in Dark Knight

I Believe In Harvey Dent
MTV’s Movie Blog recently caught up with Aaron Eckhart and got him to talk a little bit about his role in the next Batman film, The Dark Knight.

“I play Harvet Dent. Harvey Two-Face. They are both in the movie.”

Wait… all they had to do was ask and he confirmed what millions of fans have been wondering? Fair enough.

Now with the stage already set for Heath Ledger’s Joker to be causing trouble, along with gang wars in the wake of Falcone’s defeat, this is quite a lot of stuff to put into one movie. Of course, Batman Begins seemlessly moved from the origin to the action and 3 villains in one movie without feeling burdened.

What do you think? Is Two Face one too many? Leave a comment.

Between last weekend’s conventions in Philadelphia, PA and Charlotte, NC – not to mention the books that hit the stands this week – there’s been a veritable onslaught of comics news. Superman Doomsday, Official Trailer

Superman Doomsday – Official Trailer

Nothing terribly surprising in the trailer, but the link above has an interesting synopsis if you click through:

When Lexcorp accidentally unearths the intergalactic serial killer Doomsday, Superman battles the creature head on in the fight of his life…literally. The world collectively mourns their fallen hero; humanity realizes it will never feel truly safe again. Superman’s enemies rejoice – all but Lex Luthor, who grieves the loss in his own demented manner, setting off a chilling chain of events that even he couldn’t have foreseen.

Sounds like Luthor’s taking a major role this time around, which is a nice change of pace from orange-maned Luthor in the comics. That was a little weird to me, as I wasn’t too well-versed in DC lore when the story originally came out.

WB, DC announce Teen Titans Movie

teentitans.jpg Hoping to match some of the success of X-Men and Batman Begins, Warners Bros announced today their intentions to bring Teen Titans to theaters.

Hollywood Reporter doesn’t know the lineup yet, but Nightwing will be in there. I wonder if this will take place in the same universe as Batman Begins or Superman Returns? One of the benefits of WB’s ownership of DC is that the rights are all clear for future team-up movies, but if Dick Grayson is already Nightwing, then Batman might as well skip right to Tim Drake… Oh I’m getting ahead of myself here. The point is they have the potential to bring us a really great movie with some characters lesser known outside of the comic world. And if they do keep the tone of Batman and Superman as promised, this could be an amazing movie.

Akiva Goldsman will produce the movie. He won an Academy Award for his screenplay for the Ron Howard directer A Beautiful Mind. He also wrote the Joel Schumacher direct posion Batman & Robin AND Batman Forever, and has produced an amazing list of shabby films. OK, so maybe the odds are stacked against us for an “good” movie, but I’ll hold out hope if the right director, script, and cast come up to bat.

Josh Middleton shows comic cover process

Josh Middleton shows comic cover process Post Banner

I’m a big fan of Johua Middleton‘s art. Especially his cover art. In his blog, Josh has noted that he posted a youTube video showing the creation process of a comic cover he worked on from the pencils to the final rendering. This cover is from the DC series Outsiders with the story focusing on Aquaman and Metamorpho. Its interesting to note that he mentions being told that the new Aquaman is actually a teen, so when he showed the editorial staff the final version of the picture, they wanted him to make him look older, which is certainly a challenge for an already finished piece of art. Check out the blog entry for the full background, but here is the video:

Josh has posted a few other very similar and very cool videos on youTube of him sketching. You check his youTube account here.

Dark Knight teaser site updated Part 3

Dark Knight Teaser Joker Hidden Text

Recently, we reported on the revelation of Heath Ledger as the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie. The site that once showed the defaced Harvey Dent campaign poster and then the frightening image of Ledger in character, IbelieveinHarveyDentToo.com, has been updated once more. The page shows a message of “Page Not Found.” However, if you highlight the entire page, you see hidden text. Essentially its HA HA HA over and over and over again in varying font sizes and capitalization. Interspersed among the H’a and A’s are randomly inserted letters. Being the lazy person I am, I copied the entirety of the hidden text into Textpad, my text editor of choice, and did a search for H, A, a and h and replaced with a null (“”).

The results: Pgenotfound.seeYOuInDECeMbER

**REMINDER** Saturday May 5th is Free Comic Book Day

May 5th, 2007
May 5th, 2007 marks the sixth time the comic book industry will come together to celebrate the spirit of specialty Comic Book Shops around the world. The titles being given away this year are extremely solid and include selections from every major comic publisher, as well as a number of issues from smaller, independent artists. The sheer number of styles and genres available may make choosing individual comics incredibly difficult. Transformers the Movie Prequel # 1, Amazing Spider-Man Swing Shift, and Justice League of America # 0 are just a few of the almost 30 titles that will be available, so remember to call your local shop and ask if they will be participating in this year’s festivities.

Check out the “Free Comic Book Day” website here

Full list of “Free Comic Book Day” titles

The modern day comic book is one of the few original American art forms. They have been a mainstay of popular culture for close to 70 years, and the lifeblood of the industry is still the neighborhood specialty shop. Show support for your favorite shop by stopping in this Saturday and picking up a free book, (and buying another for yourself).

This reminder brought to you by your Friendly Neighborhood Bloggerman! ‘Nuff said!
