The Star Wars Expanded Universe is really lame … except of course when it involves the greatest species in the Star Wars universe, the Ewoks! This June Dark Horse will be releasing a trade paperback collecting all the issues of the Droids and Ewoks comics.
Originally published from 1985 to 1987 the Droids and Ewoks comics, released by Marvel’s Star Comics, were based on the animated series of the same names. Droids is an 8 issue story following R2-D2 and C-3PO, the gay robots of Star Wars, in their adventures that predate the original film. Ewoks is a 14 issue story featuring the Ewoks as seen in Return of the Jedi, having great adventures on the Forest Moon of Endor. Retailing at $25, this 528 page book is quite a bargain.
Dark Horse announced today that starting December 14, all comics will be released digitally the same day as they are released in print. This follows both DC and Marvel’s announcements that they will have same day digital release of all comics.
The first Saturday in May every year is Free Comic Book Day. This year, that day is May 1 and it is tomorrow!
In all over 30 comics from various publishers will be available, though you’ll want to get to your store early to avoid sell outs. And hey, don’t forget to actually buy some books and support your local comic shop while you’re there.
Fellow poweteers Sindra and Raistlin joined me this past weekend at the Fall ’09 Boston Comic Con. This small convention has started getting attention and has been growing by leaps and bounds each show. Traditionally held at the Back Bay Events Center near Copley Square, the show runs twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.
