Hot Topic, who previously had a number of Sailor Moon shirts on sale, as reported by Powet, has lots of new products on sale including a full on Sailor Moon Halloween costume.
The costume itself looks kind of cheap, but that cheapness is mostly relegated to the locket, tiara and hair covers. If a cosplayer used a locket toy and spend some effort into making more high quality versions of those cheap parts, they could put together quite a costume!

Big spoilers for an upcoming episode of the Pokémon anime. It looks like Iris is going to be capturing Meowth in a Pokéball. This of course raises interesting moral questions about whether or not it’s right to capture a clearly intelligent being able to carry on intelligent conversations, but then the whole practice of acquiring and battling Pokémon is sketchy at best.

It’s been infinity years since new Sailor Moon merchandise has come out in this continent so it’s great to see these 4 shirt designs available on the Hot Topic web site. The shirts are in girls junior sizes so they’re not exactly aimed at the adult man child demographic. Here’s hoping I fit into the 3XL shirts I ordered…
The four designs include a white shirt featuring Sailor Moon with her Cutie Moon Rod and black shirts featuring Sailor Mercury, Jupiter, Moon, Mars and Venus, Artemis and Luna with the slogan “We’re Purrrfect Together and Tuxedo Mask with the slogan “I Need A Hero!”.
Thanks to Mercurius at the Genvid Forums for noticing these and thanks to Sabrblade for making higher quality pictures of the shirts.
Don’t forget that the rerelease of the Sailor Moon manga in English starts on September 13th! Support Powet by preordering the Sailor Moon and Sailor V manga through the links below:

A very old very unreliable rumour of a new Sailor Moon show is making the rounds on the Internet. After reading about it on my favourite Sailor Moon message board I tracked the source down to a Live Journal post which referenced many sources, all unreliable, some of which date back to May 1st 2011. The show would be an hour long and play on TBS starting October 23rd 2011.
I have no expectation that there is any validity to these rumours. I only post this here as the rumour itself may be of general interest if the news gets around the Internet. Since May there has been nothing resembling official confirmation from any of the involved parties. Almost every one of these actors is a Japanese pop singer, leading me to believe this is just a random wish list made up by some Japanese Pop music fan.
Here’s the full proposed cast of this new show:
Minegishi Minami from AKB48 as Sailor Moon |
Serina from SDB48 as Sailor Mercury |
Kotera Mari from Tsubomi as Sailor Mars |
Akimoto Sayaka from AKB48 as Sailor Jupiter |
Michisige Ayumi from Morning Musume as Sailor Venus |
Massuda Takahisa as Tuxedo Mask |
This is just half the cast. Keep reading for the rest of the people you’ve never hear of who are supposed to be in this show which will never exist!

Remember back in the days when instead of Japanese developers making games that appeal to American audiences, it was the other way around? Well, not necessarily American developers making games for Japanese audiences, but rather American developers making Japanese-style games? Well, Shogo: Mobile Armor Division is a relic from that era. Developed by Monolith (F.E.A.R, Condemned, Blood 2), Shogo takes its inspiration from Japanese anime such as Robotech and Gundam, putting players in control of a big robot. Rather than being a mech simulator like Mechwarrior, Shogo is a straight forward first person shooter. Playing as a young man named Sanjuro, who is a commander in the UCS, you step into the midst of a war over the planet Cronus. Sanjuro’s brother, childhood friend, and girlfriend were killed during the war. The game features a mix of mech and on-foot sections. Taking a cue from role playing games, players can sometimes hit enemies with a ‘critical shot’ which does increased damage. The game even features multiple paths and multiple endings. It was Monolith’s first game using their Lithtech engine. The character models and sparse textures show thier age, although the plot is much deeper than most FPS titles from it’s day and the gameplay is as fast paced as ever. The source code was released for the game some years ago, and there is probably a modding community that still supports it. If you love old school fps games and anime tributes (as cheesy as they might be), then you’d do well to check this out. It’s available at gog.com on the cheap.

You remember like a decade ago when Leonardo DiCaprio was going to be in a live action Akira movie?
Well that never really happened, and a few days ago it was reported that the movie was officially shelved. But wait! Turns out that was premature! The movie lives on! Hollywood Reporter reveals that the movie now has a director and writer!
The movie’s director will be Jaume Collet-Serra. Is he any good? No idea. Haven’t seen any of his movies… but you have if you’ve seen Unknown, Orphan or House of Wax!
The script will be adapted by Steve Kloves, who is best known for adapting the Harry Potter books into a number of movies of varying quality. Lots of bitching going on about what people hear about changes that may take place. I love the Akira manga and movie myself, but both are … kind of nonsense. Let’s just wait and see how it turns out before saying it would be better as a mess of scenes with a confusing incomplete story. You can’t very well call yourself a fan of the Akira anime movie and say you wouldn’t want to see a movie that deviates too much from the source material.
Leo will not likely be starring in the film, but he will be producing. The movie is said to take place in New York instead of Neo Tokyo, and casting rumours throughout the years have included Joseph Gordon Levitt, Justin Timberlake, Robert Pattinson, James Franco and Keanu Reeves. If I had more time to kill, I’d photoshop photos of all of them too…
Stay tuned for more on this movie as it will no doubt go through 3 more directors and get shelved for another 5 years only to be released some time after James Cameron’s Gunnm adaptation…
Check out a trailer for the American Akira below…
