Wii Love Transformers

Activision Transformers

Thanks to forum member spooie, we have this blurb in the most recent issue of Nintendo Power:

“Based on the upcoming Michael Bay flick, Transformers will let you play as either the heroic Autobots or evil Decepticons. Each ‘bot will come equipped with unique weapons, moves, and transformations. Activision is planning a Wii version and two DS versions of the game.”

Hmm, game based on a license published by Activision? This sounds like a job for Raven Software.

Our coverage of BotCon 2006 has Powet’s very own Zac Shipley registering for more information at the Activision table (5:45). Activision made a point of showing up to the convention, despite not being able to release any information about their upcoming Transformers games. As Zac says in the video, all they could confirm at that time was there would be an Xbox 360 version. Hmm, I wonder why the Nintendo article failed to mention that…

Atari did a great job with the Armada-inspired PS2 Transformers game. If Activision makes a game that’s even half as good, it should be quite enjoyable.

So why two DS games…? Why haven’t we heard anything about a PS3 version? Come join the discussion at the forums and share your theories!

New TMNT trailer

Forum member spooie recorded this trailer when it played on Attack of the Show earlier this week. This is a new all CG Ninja Turtles movie that’s been in the works since I still had my original teeth.

The trailer is also available on MTV’s website though I’m completely incapable of playing it.

Thanks to spooie for finding this.

Smash My PlayStation 3

Playstation 3What better way to celebrate PS3 launch day than to watch the guys from SmashMyPS3.com smash a unit in front of a bunch of lined up geeks.

Thanks to Zac for finding this.

And special thanks to spooie for this picture of G4 Tech TV’s Olivia Munn licking a PS3:

And if you read the forums you could have seen all this hours ago.

X3 DVDebacle

Wolverine and Magneto review the disastrous DVD release for the latest in the X-Men movie series by talking about some discs accidentally containing extra scenes, Fox’s double dipping plans and the already released European DVD with all the features we should have gotten in the first place.

Listed below are the special features we’re missing:
– 11 additional deleted scenes
– ‘X-Men: Evolution Of A Trilogy’ featurette
– ‘X-Men: The Excitement Continues’ featurette
– ‘X-Men Up Close’ interactive gallery
– ‘Anatomy Of A Scene: The Golden Gate Bridge’ featurette
– Pre-viz animatic gallery
– Brett Ratner’s production diary
– Character gallery
– Concept art gallery
– Models galleries
– Storyboards
– Vignettes
– Blogs
– Easter egg

Thanks to forum member spooie and powet.tv enemy Dave for educating me on some of these problems and for the sexy Janine for running into a wall for me.

Local News report on CES from 1990

One of our forum regulars Spooie has given INTER-NET a glimpse into what game news was like before INTER-NET.
Basically its a local news report on the Consumer Electronics Show from 1990 featuring some hype on Moonwalker for Genesis, forthcoming Turbo Grafix 16 use of CD technology, and of course Super Mario 3…
Also keep an eye out for Nintendo hero Howard Phillips!

X-Box games at Burger King

Burger KingBurger King will be offering 4$ X-Box and X-Box 360 games along with their value meals according to Gamespot. There will be 3 games which will be total Burger King propaganda featuring none other than the extremely creepy Burger King driving bumper cars, racing bikes and most disturbingly of all sneaking around and force feeding people Burger King food.
Sneaky Burger King
As if the King wasn’t a bone chilling enough character that I would put on par with your average clown when it comes to creepiness but now to top it off he wants to assault my colon by force feeding me those horrible Burgers?

Bump!I think this promotion is a great idea except that I don’t have an X-Box and I don’t get Burger King promotional items since the gut wrenching Pokemon promo of 1999. These issues shouldn’t affect most people…

As cheap and propagandaish as this may seem we’re still talking about what is essentially a 4$ game. Under 10$ including the meal. It’s hard to beat that.

Thanks to spooie for the heads up

List of Sega Genesis games for the Wii

Golden Axe BoxIGN reports a list of Sega Genesis games for the Wii Virtual Console. These titles are listed on the ESRB website. The Entertainment Software Rating Board must rate all games before they can go on sale in the US. I guess there’s no surprising them.

By going to the website and doing a simple search for the publisher “Sega” and chosing the platform “Wii” you’ll see that the following games will probably be available:

Genesis Games Available on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console.

Though with only 18 titles for the Wii listed on the ESRB site one doesn’t even need to narrow it down to Sega at this point. Kind of funny that Sega has the only exclusive Wii titles listed with nothing by Nintendo there yet.

It’s not known whether or not this is all the games we’ll be getting but if I had to guess I’d say this is probably all we’re getting in the first batch. Why submit just a few of the more reckogniseable titles for approval and sit on others? Still this is a great assortment of some of the best games the Sega Genesis had to offer and I can’t wait to see what else the Wii Virtual Console has in store.

Thanks to powet poster Spooie for the heads up.
