It has been 10 years since we were last taken for a ride, and now it looks like Marvel has finally remembered their characters were best served under the Capcom banner.
Capcom had a big media event last week in Hawaii, but all the games they premiered have been supposed to be secret until today. Even as of this writing, this trailer wasn’t supposed to be out yet. Still, someone who loves to see Hulk smash Chris Redfield uploaded it, and for that we thank you.
The trailer shows MvC3 running on MT Framework, which also powered Street Fighter IV and Capcom vs Tasunoko. Capcom has confirmed it will continue with the over-the-top combo systems of previous VS games and will feature 3-on-3 matches. The official image posted above shows the 6 characters from the trailer and some silhouettes of other popular Marvel and Capcom characters. Captain America, Deadpool, Dr Doom, Super Skrull, Mephisto, Black Widow, Frank West, Felicia, Dante, and Chun-Li are all speculated and likely candidates.

Today is P for the Powers of Grayskull. The Powers of Grayskull was a line proposed in 1987 that would serve as a sort of prequel to MOTU as we had known it. While some of the figures made it to the prototype phase and licensing material was sent out to interested companies, nothing ever materialized as far as a full scale toy line. Years ago, there was a game known as Gauntlet. Alongside up to 3 other players, you took control of one of four characters and descended through enemy-infested dungeons. You had to work together in order to takeout the monster generators, secure items, and keep each other alive, but of course there were players who shot and destroyed food as well as douchebags who swiped up all the healing and food items. That was one of the best early co-op games, and it helped lay the foundation for co-op gaming as it is today. It’s dungeon crawling also helped to set the stage for future action RPG games such as Secret of Mana and Diablo. Years later, Midway released a modern-day revamp of the game. Although it was given a graphical face-lift, RPG mechanics, and a storyline, it retained all the co-op fun from years earlier.

Looking for something to do until Diablo III comes out? Torchlight does a good job of taking care of your dungeon crawling fix until Blizzard gets done. Developed by Runic software, a team which includes people who have worked on Fate and Diablo I and II, Torchlight is a simple-to-play yet complex dungeon crawler. Just like Diablo, players take control of one of three character classes, each with upgradable abilities, and explore the mines below the town of Torchlight, battling monsters, gathering items, and completing quests. The town of Torchlight serves as a hub world where players can purchase and sell items along with other stuff. The player also travels with a companion animal whose form can change. The game isn’t graphically intensive, and there is even a graphics setting for netbooks. Players can create their own adventures using Torchlight’s easy-to-use modding tools. Unfortunately there is no multiplayer, but the developer is working on a free-to-play MMORPG set withing Torchlight’s universe. If you’re looking for some good dungeon crawling to take your mind off the fact that Diablo III is a while away, you’d do well to give Torchlight a visit.

Gears of War 3 is one of the worst kept secrets in development, and but even though we all knew it was happening, no one got to see it until now.
After the harrowing escape at the climax of Gears 2, Delta Squad seems to be in even WORSE shape than at the start of the last 2 games. Dom looks like he’s practically given up at this point (or at least, given up shaving). Luckily Marcus, Baird, and Cole are close behind, and Anya has joined the fight on the ground now too. Designer Cliff Bleszinski was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for the debut, which you can watch here.

Out side of this interview, Cliff confirmed that there will be 4 player co-op for the campaign this round, and that the Lambent will emerge as a third faction fighting both Locust and Human soldiers.

Gary Oldman doesn’t seem like the usual geek icon. He’s well known by film fans and critics as one of the great actors of this generation, but he’s not what you’d call a movie star in the way Will Smith is.

Still he’s had some really impressive roles both in fiction and as historical figures. Its also amazing how weirdly different he looks in all these movies. While by no means a comprehensive list, I’ll spotlight some of my favorite faces of Gary Oldman. [Read the rest of this entry…]

This trailer shows off some of the multiplayer in War For Cybertron, which will allow you to create a character. Or more accurately, recolor a character. They’ve got a few classes you can choose from and then you put on your deco of choice. Its like making your own little G2!
You’ll still be able to select standard Autobots and Decepticons, including Demolishor (left), making his debut outside of the Armada universe. He’ll be playable to those who preorder from Transformers: War for Cybertron on Amazon.com on either Xbox 360 or PS3.
