Avengers Behind the Scenes clip on Hulk’s special effects

The video above has some great behind-the-scenes looks at the Hulk and the special effects that brought him to life. Mark Ruffalo had a much more active role than I would have imagined, wearing the motion capture suit on the set and actually participating in the fight with Thor. Very cool.

Avengers Assembled: Hawkeye In, Hulk Out?

HawkeyeBlackWidowHere is the good news: Jeremy Renner, hot off his Academy Award nominated performance in The Hurt Locker is in final talks to be Marvel’s Hawkeye in The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon. Everything about that sentence is exciting. Renner is a perfect fit, as anyone who saw Renner’s cavalier bomb squad specialist can attest.

Hawkeye is likely to appear as a villain in the movie, as his comic counterpart was initially. His attraction to Black Widow is likely to turn his head (along with most of the male audience) toward joining the team. Still no word on who Whedon has in mind to confront the team as the main bad guy.

Here is the bad news: Edward Norton may be out of the picture. THR reports that the Hulk may still be a character in the movie, but he might not show up in Norton form. Which is a real shame since Norton is an incredible actor and his Bruce Banner was terrific.

No word on Ant Man, Wasp, or any other second-string Avengers. They might not appear, or in smaller roles (think some of the background mutants in X-Men).

Planet Hulk DVD – Hulk vs Red King trailer

Marvel.com has posted a new teaser clip of the forthcoming straight-to-dvd feature, Planet Hulk. The clip features the beginning of the first fight between the Hulk and the Red King in the arena. I was excited for this having read the fantastic story in trade paperback form, but the quality of the animation has me even more stoked. The initial Marvel Animated DVD offerings were shaky at best, but there has been noticable and steady improvement with each one. If you cannot wait for this DVD’s release, I would suggest checking out the last DVD feature from the House of Ideas, Hulk Vs or picking up the Planet Hulk trade paperback. The animated Planet Hulk comes out this week on February 2nd.

Animated Planet Hulk DVD cover revealed

Marvel.com has seen fit to release an image of the DVD cover for the upcoming animated feature Planet Hulk. The art is painted by Alex Ross and the story will be based on the very popular Incredible Hulk storyline of the same name. The feature is set to be released in February 2010. Hope you are looking forward to it as much as I am!

New Hulk Vs Trailer

Marvel.com has premiered a new trailer for the upcoming animated DVD release of Hulk Vs, a compilation of two major showdowns; Hulk vs Wolverine and Hulk vs Thor. The trailer shows us a much deeper story than expected from the previous action only trailer. We even get to see a couple Weapon X characters including Sabretooth, Deadpool and Omega Red.

Thanks to BumbleBeeZ3 for the news.

Hulk Vs. Wolverine Trailer

In January 2009, Marvel will be continuing their series of direct to DVD movie releases with ‘The Hulk Vs’. The DVD will contain two short animated stories each featuring a different fight that the Hulk has been famous for. The first will be Hulk vs. Thor. The second will be Hulk vs. Wolverine. The trailer for Hulk vs. Wolverine was just released as you can see below.

From ENewsI.com:

HULK VS THOR – It’s gods versus monsters in this epic 45 minute movie! Never have we explored the explosive power of the Hulk like we have in this new film, every major character from the Marvel Thor universe is thrust into battle with this Green Goliath as he brings a new Ragnarok down upon the realm of gods.

HULK VS WOLVERINE- This dark, violent, smash and slash story was first told in issue 181 of THE INCREDIBLE HULK and the rematches have continued to thrill comic fans ever since. Now Marvel and Lionsgate takes the best of those famous comic book battles and merges them into one heart pounding 33-minute story.

There will be a complete advanced screening of the Hulk vs. Wolverine story at San Diego Comic Con later this month.
