The NEW New Fantastic Four?

New Fantastic Four?Ah, how I long for the good old days, when talking about the “New Fantastic Four” meant talking about Spidey, Grey Hulk, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider. But Marvel just sent this image out, suggesting that this may be our NEW New Fantastic Four in the near future . Of course, this would hardly be the first time the lineup got a shakedown – most notably when She-Hulk filled in for Ben Grimm, less notably when Scott Lang filled in for Reed Richards. Of course, there are many others that haved filled in at various points over the years, but this Michael Turner image is a rare sight, as we don’t usually see more than one member missing – Here we have Storm and Black Panther replacing both Sue and Reed Richards… despite the rift between the Richards duo being a significant part of Civil War.

So when can we expect some answers, you ask? Well, the solicits for Civil War-crossover-issues 542 and 543 both tease that Civil War may leave the FF with a new lineup, and 544’s solicits (and cover image) are ‘classified’. Of course, this is also when veteran writer Dwayne McDuffie (who’s currently showing off his writing chops in Beyond!) and artist Paul Pelletier (who can occasionally be seen in Exiles) take over the book too, so if there’s going to be a shakeup, odds are you should keep your eyes out for when the book drops in March!

Wii Strap Recall

Wii Strap Form

Wii Remote Wrist Strap Replacement Request Form

Note: you will need to submit your Wii’s serial number in order to be eligible.

An admission of guilt? A small gesture to appease the few who think it’d be fun to let go of the controller and “see what happens”? I don’t know about you, but I’ve never had a problem with a flying Wiimote. Heck, most of the time I don’t even use the strap. But seeing some of my friends play and after totally pwning a drinking glass during Wii bowling, maybe there’s more to this than I’m admitting. In other words, I already ordered a couple.

Check out a comparison of the new straps to the older ones after the break:

Transformers Classics Hot Rod in real life

This may not be newsworthy, but I thought it was still definitely worth sharing. The other night, powet.tv cohort, Zac Shipley, instant messaged me the following link:

Classics Hot Rod in real life.

Basically, it has several pictures of a car from the late 70’s. The red version is a dead ringer for the new classics hot rod figure. The only thing missing is the flames on the hood, the yellow spoiler and engine block popping out of the middle of the hood. Have a look for yourself!

Gaming Archaeology: Totaka’s Song, Part 3

One of Nintendo’s music composers, Kazumi Totaka, likes to hide a certain signature tune in the deepest, darkest crannies of his games. For details on the established facts, check out Part 1 and Part 2 of our coverage on the subject.

Today, we bring you a brand-new viewer-submitted discovery from within Luigi’s Mansion, a game previously previously held as my white whale.

Also: a nod to Wii Sports. Let’s all go dissect it.

Wii vs. the Power Glove

As innovative as the concept may seem the Wii remote is actually very similar in functionality to the Nintendo Power Glove from years past. Watch me compare the specifics of both technologies so that you can decide for yourself whether or not the Wii is just a Gamecube with a Power Glove attached to it.

* Disclaimer: Nintendo did not release the Power Glove. It was in fact released by Pax.

Mission In Snowdriftland

missioninsnowdriftland.jpgAfter being buried in 12 inches of snow last week in a hotel that refused to pay someone to plow, hopping in snowdrifts isn’t high on my list of priorities right now.

None the less, Nintendo has pushed a fun flash based platformer on to the web to help push their holiday game line up. In Mission In Snowdriftland you play this little snowman who has to run and jump and… well if you ever played a Nintendo side scroller, this won’t be hard. At the end of the first level I was rewarded with a Yoshi’s Island DS Ringtone, so I think it was worth my time playing.

Mission In Snowdriftland is basically a clever web distraction that puts a banner up for a Nintendo game and then rewards you with extras like wallpapers, MP3s, and computer icons. Its not bad really, though keyboarding platformers may be hard for those of us who don’t make a habit of emulating ROMs regularly.

Justice League Of America figures from DC Direct

jla_af_p128.jpgSince fans have given up on Mattel bring a Marvel Legend’s style line to mass market based on DC heroes, at least DC Direct is trying.

TNI has a picture of a set of prototypes celebrating the newest incarnation of the Justice League of America, as they appear in the monthly from writer Brad Meltzer and artist Ed Benes.

This first series has Black Lightning, Vixen, Red Arrow (Arsenal), Black Canary, and another damned Superman figure. At least 3 of the 5 are characters who probably wouldn’t have warranted a toy a year ago, so I guess I can’t complain too much. The rest of the lineup with Red Tornado, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawk Girl, and Batman will probably be coming soon.

Hopefully really soon, because a revamped JSA just hit stands, and I’d love to have a shelf with both teams.

New TMNT trailer

Forum member spooie recorded this trailer when it played on Attack of the Show earlier this week. This is a new all CG Ninja Turtles movie that’s been in the works since I still had my original teeth.

The trailer is also available on MTV’s website though I’m completely incapable of playing it.
