Ninja Turtles film pre-production shut down by studio, release date delayed

According to the Hollywood Reporter, pre-production has been shut down on the Ninja Turtles movie reboot. Staff involved with pre-production have been temporarily let go. The movie, itself, has not been cancelled, but has been moved out from December 2013 to a May 2014 release. A weak script is said to be the problem.

Considering the fan outcry that resulted when the revelation surfaced the Turtles would be aliens in this film, I cannot make myself seem surprised by this. It should be stressed that this has nothing to do with that fan outcry, but working with such a foreign concept to such an established brand could not come without it’s own challenges. Not to mention the stigma associated with Michael Bay and reboots, as his company, Platinum Dunes, is set to be producing the film.

This is the third film Paramount has delayed for various reasons. GI Joe: Retaliation and World War Z were both recently pushed out. The TMNT franchise was acquired by Nickelodeon in October of 2009. Nickelodeon and Paramount are both subsidiaries of giant media umbrella corporation, Viacom. The film was set to reinvigorate Nickelodeon after poor recent ratings. All parties involved still hope to accomplish that in May 2014.

‘Wreck It Ralph’ Trailer, Disney’s Classic Video Game Tribute Movie

In the same way that ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’ set a story against the back drop of the world of classic cartoons, and ‘Toy Story’ showed the secret lives of toys, Disney now has ‘Wreck It Ralph’ for the world of video games.

Ralph the villain of an old arcade game, ‘Fix It Felix.’ But he doesn’t want to be a bad guy anymore. So he leaves his game to find one where he can be a hero.

Even in a 2 minute trailer there are TONS of video game cameos. I spotted Boswer, Kano, Q Bert, Doctor Robotnik, Zangief, and more. This movie is going be a serious thrill ride for anyone who plays or has played classic games. Oh, and it looks pretty funny too. Voice cast includes John C Reilly, Jane Lynch, Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman. Wreck It Ralph comes to theaters November 2, 2012.

The First Image From ‘Iron Man 3’

This is the first official image from the set of Iron Man 3. The movie is written and directed by Shane Black and will feature returning stars Robert Downey Jr, Gwenyth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Jon Favreau. Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Ashley Hamilton, and James Badge Dale join the cast.

This image of course reveals nothing about the actual movie, but does get us back in Stark’s garage with his collection of suits. If you’re looking for spoilers, the movie is supposedly heavily based on the Extremis story from the comic series, so you can read that. In the mean time, this looks cool and the movie opens May 3, 2013.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ MTV Awards Footage, New TV Commercials

The MTV Movie Awards are apparently something that still happens and some new The Dark Knight Rises footage was shown last night. This is not really a trailer, its more of a montage of a lot of action with a few story bits sprinkled in.

The official running time for the movie has been announced as 2 hours and 45 minutes, so be sure to go to the bathroom before you settle into your seat on July 20. Here is the official synopsis of the movie as well:

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

And here are two new ads running on TV for the movie: [Read the rest of this entry…]
