Beautiful Katamari to 360 Live Arcade?

Newsweek’s N’Gai Croal dropped a bomb this week, that the next gen sequel to Katamari Damacy would be exclusive to Xbox 360. Gamespot ups the ante a bit more, announcing that it will hit Xbox Live Arcade. Namco announced nothing.

One look at the above video, and a download title makes sense. Katamari was never a graphically intensive game, since so much stuff had to be on screen at once, detail remainded low. A Xbox 360, PS3, or even Wii release would be more detailed. The first footage clearly looks no better than the PS2 is capable of, meaning the game is likely limited by size for a download. There will be 4 Player online multiplayer and new levels, which all anyone wanted anyway.

And to think only 6 short months ago, Xbox Live’s Ross Erickson called the rumor of Katamari on XBLA “total crap

www.SmashBros.com Updates with Remixed Metroid Tune

screw-attack.pngFor those who know, http://www.smashbros.com has been updating daily with interesting little snippets of information and gameplay details about the anticipated Wii release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. These updates have been occurring for a number of weeks. So why make a fuss about today’s update? Well, because they have added a short music clip that remixes one of my favorite songs in all of video-game-dom, (it’s a word, look it up).

Check out the remix of Ridley’s Theme right here!

May it brighten your day as much as it has mine.

Little more than a couple stills and a new logo, but it confirms a 2008 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

I Beleive in A Thing Called The Darkness

The new game from Riddick developer Starbreeze will be out very soon, and I cannot wait. It based on the comic The Darkness, and aside from the usual FPS antics I’ve grown to enjoy, it employs a mechanic where in the player gains demonic powers when stepping out of the light. Fantastic. The voices for those demons are provided by Mike Patton, best known as the singer for Faith No More.

The Darkness on Xbox 360 and PS3 will be out June 25.

Lost Classics: Eternal Champions (Genesis, Sega CD)

eternalchampions.jpgReleased during the midst of the fighting game craze of the mid-90s, this game went largely overlooked due to the fact that so many other games came out during the time. Shame too, as it attempted to set itself apart from the many Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat clones of the era with it’s storyline and unique combat system, which was based off real fighting styles more so than other 2-d fighting games.

$20 Game of the Week: Mega Man Powered Up (PSP)

mmpwdup.jpgConstant re-releases of Street Fighter 2 notwithstanding, Capcom shows us how to do a remake the right way. (Check Maverick Hunter X and the Gamecube Resident Evil for proof.) With that said, what better game to remake than the beginning of one of the most classic and recognizable franchises in gaming? Mega Man Powered Up is a remaking of the original NES Mega Man, complete with new polygonal graphics, a remixed soundtrack, two new boss characters, and even a level editor! Players can either play in original mode (the original Mega Man with new graphics) or remixed mode, which adds in new bosses, different level layouts (even the old weapons won’t work on who they originally worked on), different item placements, and the ability to play as the bosses. There are also several unlockables to be found, and when you get tired, you can create your own stages in the level editor and upload them online. If you can get past the ultra-cutesy look, you’ll find the ultimate update to one of the greatest games in history.

Halo 3 Box Art Released

Halo 3 ArtJust a quick little weekend update for your gaming cravings. Bungie Entertainment and Microsoft have released the official box art for the highly anticipated Halo 3 game, slated for release in September. Ravenous fanboys can breath a sign of relief now, for gazing upon it’s cover is the next step between now and the game hitting the shelves. Master Chief, we salute thee.

It may be just me, but for such a highly waited-for game that fanboys have been drooling over since Halo 2 came out, the cover art seems a wee bit….anticlimatic to me. Of course, that’s just me, and I’m just a silly gamer girl who doesn’t know quality, right?

The rest of you can continue salivating now.

City of Heroes to hit the SilverScreen?

City of HeroesIt would appear since so many movies recently have been based off of comic and gaming heroes such as Spider-Man and the upcoming Iron-Man film, that even the more ambiguous names in the hero world want a piece of the fame.

Tom DeSanto, who produced the Transformers movie slated to release next month, has announced he plans on bringing the multiplayer online RPG City of Heroes into the cinama world that has made so many other heroes blockbuster hits. DeSanto states that he wishes to take advantage of the variety of protaganists that could come from the game’s “mix-n-match” hero creation theme.

“You also haven’t seen a big superheroes vs. aliens movie. I see this as the next big superhero franchise.”

There’s also talk of DeSanto making a TV series based on the game as well. Given the influx of such hero movies as of late, this seems to look like it will either be genius or a complete flop.
