Penny Arcade in Wired, New Game Trailer

krahulikholkins.jpg
Don’t get too excited by the photo above. These are not the actors to play Beaker and Dr Bunson Honeydew in a live action Muppet movie. They are Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, the creators of Penny Arcade. This weekend they’re in the middle of the Penny-Arcade Expo in Washington, and they’ve issued a new trailer for their first game.
Its some big news that the game, titled “On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One” will be hitting Xbox 360 in addition to Mac, Linux, and Windows.
Wired Magazine also offers a profile, declaring “This is the story of how two douches from Spokane, Washington, became the most powerful players in the videogame industry.”

Mattel SDCC 2007 He-Man panel reveals nothing

He-Man 2002 post banner

After waiting day after day for any type of recap as to what went on and what was announced at the Mattel He-man panel at SDCC 2007, He-Man.org finally came out of its slumber to post a recap. I had little luck finding any information on the panel prior to this posting including in several different forums, he-man.org forums included.

The basic rundown is that nothing was announced that we didn’t already know. There is a movie in the works, but no details to report. They wouldn’t even say if it was definitely a live action, cgi, or animated. They could only posture and say that it was looking like it would most likely be live action.

The DVD news we were all waiting for eagerly? All they divulged was that they are working out the details and will have more to report when all is finalized. Any sort of details of substance that are currently floating around seem to originate from the BCI representative that posts on the He-man.org forums. He mentioned a widescreen format and a couple of other small tidbits, but most of the real details that everyone wants to know about are really still being worked out.

Continue reading for the actual rundown of the panel as posted by He-Man.org.

Otakon 2007 Post-Con Report

As many of you may know, Otakon 2007 was last weekend in Baltimore – surprisingly early for the con. A bunch of the Powet crew were present to witness the awesome glory and crazy mayhem that was the largest anime convention on the east coast. Though visual documentary on the convention for us may be a bit on the slim side, I did manage to have enough footage (both my own and a few snippets donated) to put together a small video-tour of the convention.

It also documents just how big a bunch of nutty geeks we here at Powet are.

Powet Toys: Botcon 2007 Exclusives Hands-on

I attended Botcon 2007 this year and was able to get my hands on all of the exclusives. I decided to do a quick hands on with all ten exclusives. I divided it up into two 10 minute videos because its long, a little boring, and not very in depth. If you’d like me to do a more in-depth look at each of the exclusives with more background information and the full transformations, please let me know by commenting on this post below. Thanks!

Part 1: Dirge, Thrust, Thundercracker, Dreadwind and Bugbite

Part 2: Springer, Huffer, Weirdwolf, Alpha Trion, and Phasing Mirage

For the initial announcements on each figure in the main set go to the following links:
Thundercracker
Dirge
Thrust
Dreadwind
Bugbite

[EDIT – CRAZY: It has been brought to my attention that Don Figueroa did the art for the cover of the box set and not Dan Khanna. Apologies.]

Comic News Rundown

The Injustice League
Between last weekend’s conventions in Philadelphia, PA and Charlotte, NC – not to mention the books that hit the stands this week – there’s been a veritable onslaught of comics news. To get your rundowns on the news from the cons, from details on the “Messiah CompleX” X-Men crossover, to the new writer on JLA (hint: try the mastermind behind the JLU animated series), to your quick ‘n dirty recap of what insanity has happened to The Flash, continue on after the jump.
