Fox wins Watchmen lawsuit. Fans get served.

For those who aren’t aware of whats going on in this case, basically Fox had the rights to the Watchmen in the 80s, but due to budgetary and technological constraints, they didn’t do anything with it. Fast-forward to today, they are suing Warner Bros. for an indefinite injunction on the movie being released in March claiming they still own those rights. Yesterday, news came out that a judge gave judgement in favor of Fox. What this means is anybody’s guess. What will most likely happen is that Warner Bros. will have to guarantee Fox a big cut of the future film’s earnings before Fox will allow the movie to be shown. They have until March to get this all straightened out or beware the fan backlash Fox will incur.

Marvel Minimates Waves 25 and 26 and possibly Terminator 2 Minimates announced

Line ups have been announced for the next 2 waves of Marvel Minimates.

Series 25
(New) Captain America & Red Skull
Red Hulk & Ska’ar
Iron Man & AIM Agent
VARIANT: “Bolt-Face” Iron Man & AIM Agent

Series 26
Wolverine & Deadpool
Gambit & Psylocke
Sabretooth & Skrull
VARIANT: First Appearance Sabretooth & Skrull

It was mentioned that there were going to be Army Builder figures in these waves, but I am extremely diappointed to see they won’t be packaged together. So if you want two 3 AIM Agents, you have to have 3 Iron Men. As if we didn’t have enough already. At least they aren’t packaged with Wolverine.

While not officially announced, there seems to be some control art (and pre-order pages) floating about the inter-tubes for the Terminator 2 license, prior to which was unknown to even be held by Diamond Select.

Judge Dredd to return to theaters

In association with DNA Films (Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later), the UK publisher 2000AD has announced that Judge Dredd has been greenlit for production in 2009. They hope this movie will drown everyone’s memory of the 1995 film featuring Sylvester Stallone in one of his finest roles as an actor. All joking aside, they seem to understand the initial theatrical attempt was a bit of a farce and hope to correct that with this next outing. Time will tell…

Starcraft 2: Battle Report 1

IGN has posted a full 21 minute video of gameplay in Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. The battle features Terran vs. Protoss and gives a decent look at some of the new units and abilities.

You can see that video here.

One of the abilities I was intrigued by was that a newly built command center was able to carry 4 SCVs with it to immediately start mining at the expansion base. Another new feature shown was not only the ability to traverse terrain at different levels with certain units, but also that some parts of the terrain could be interacted with, in this case a pile of boulders blocking/protecting the entrance to an expansion site. They were also pretty quick to point out that this is still an alpha version and you can probably bet on a somewhat lengthy beta version to work out all the bugs. That being said, things are looking very good so far.
