STARCRAFT 2 OFFICIAL

starcraft.jpg
The worst kept secret in RTS is now common knowledge.

Moments ago at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in South Korea, the veteran PC developers announced StarCraft 2 as their next game. IGN is liveblogging the event. Official images and video are expected soon.

Its good to know Blizzard was only teasing. Some kind of update should be rolling onto Blizzard’s site soon. This news is perfectly timed as the next Powet Game Night will be the original StarCraft!

Transformers 2007 New Trailer

The newest trailer for Transformers has just been released on Yahoo Movies.

This will run in front of Shrek The Third this weekend as well as Pirates Of The Carribean: At Worlds End next weekend.

Team Fortress 2’s Heavy Weapons Guy

I’ve already spoken of the pure excitement I have over the forthcoming Half Life Orange Box, but this trailer in particular is quite entertaining. The art style is perfect for a game. While Valve has the best visuals in the industry for rendering regular people, the highly animated look of Team Fortress 2’s players is reaching Pixar levels. Yeah I’m saying it. We’re out of that glass eyed uncanny valley of Spider-Man 3 visuals and squarely into spirited animated movie territory.

Broken Lizard Teases Super Troopers 2

tease.jpg
I liked Beerfest quite a bit, and Club Dread wasn’t all that bad either. But no Broken Lizard film matches Super Troopers.

Paul Soter tells MTV

”There was a period of time where it seemed to us that the only way people recognized us at all was as Super Troopers. So we thought, let’s get a few other films under our belt just to let people know that it’s not the only thing that we do. The more we thought about it we said we should do it. They are great characters and we still have a lot of material left over.”

Theres no script, no money, and no greenlight on this movie. But I’m all aboard anyway. Super Troopers is a classic and if anything is missing from their other movies its that I really just didn’t get into the characters as much. I certainly hope this sequel talk isn’t just a bunch of shenanigans.

Kirsten Dunst Is Debbie Harry

blondiedunst.jpg
MTV Movies Blog reports: Kirsten Dunst Ready To Rock For Blondie Biopic. Ok, so its only a rumor, but if both Dunst and Harry want this movie to get made, it should get made.

I’m completely in favor of this movie and in favor of this casting. Dunst could pass for Debbie Harry very easily and whether she sings or lip syncs theres a great story to tell there about Blondie’s rise to fame in the late 70s.

My dream would have this movie be part of a CBGB trilogy with the story of The Talking Heads and The Ramones in the late 70s and early 80s.

Halo 3 Beta Video: Spartan Laser In Action

This is the last Halo 3 Beta video I’ll ever post here. It opens up in less than a week and then we’ll overrun with clever videos and the urgency will be gone.
That said, I am posting this one because its the best look I’ve seen at the 3 Beta maps and a really great look at not only the portable jump pad but also the Spartan Laser. Can’t wait to see if this dispaces the Rocket Launcher as the Anti-Vehicle weapon of choice.

Soul Calibur Legends Art and Logo

scl.jpg
Its been less than 24 hours since we heard about Adventures in “Soul Calibur” but here are some art stolen from 1UP!

sclnightmare.jpgsclivy.jpg

Soul Calibur is the universally accepted fighting game of choice at the Powet offices, and any expansion on that world is welcome. When we initially heard about this game, the word came down we’d play as Siegfried, but that killer artwork of Ivy makes me thing we’ll see lots of playable characters.

So now the question– Will this be the next Death By Degrees or Shaolin Monks?

Half-Life 2: Orange Box nearly Complete

ep2alyx.jpg
Its been some time since Valve and EA announced they’d bring the stunning Half Life 2 to the Xbox 360 & PS3. Its been an even longer time since Valve commited to an episodic sequel instead of a full on development of Half Life 3.

Valve’s updated their Steam service with news that Episode 2 is nearly complete! This is great news because it means they can get it up for download very soon and the wait is almost over. Well thats great news for PC Gamers anyway.

Console folks like myself can rest easy knowing that full focus will soon shift toward completing Episode 2 for consoles, to be released in the “Orange Box” edition with the new online Multiplayer Team Fortress 2 and the gravity physics puzzle game Portal, not to mention the full release of Half Life 2 and Episode 1. Even at the premium price of $59.99 for a next gen game, thats a crazy amount of content!

Hey, thats not all, Game Head went to Valve’s offices recently, and you can watch the full episode below…
