Joystiq poll results in favor of Wii & 360

console_combo_joystiq_poll.jpg
Peter Moore hit the nail on the head. Over 30 Thousand Joystiq readers voted on what consoles they’ll likley end up buying and the vast majority plan on getting a Wii and 360. Wii on its own scored very strongly as well.
This is hardly a scientific poll, but I’d say the PS3 has a real upward battle against the competition.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption attract mode

mp3intro.jpgLost in the E3 shuffle since most people were actually playing the game was the 1 minute montage of in-game footage showcasing new aspects of Metroid Prime 3.
Game Informer was patient enough to record this footage and bring it to us now.
Included in the video are lots of new characters (some looking like rival hunters), the gunship air strike, and a new zip-line Samus (pictured).
Theres also 3 other gameplay movies if you missed the demo the first time around.

powet.tv June magazine round-up

I got a little goofy on this one. Back to normal next week, promise.

Snakes On A Plane

Apparently Samuel L Jackson isn’t the only one having to deal with MF-ing snakes on his MF-ing plane this summer.

Pilot Fights Black Snake Stowaway on Plane. Apparently this little snake found its way on to a single engine plane, causing the lone pilot to have to grab it and make an emergency landing. The most ridiculous movie premise of the summer just got a little more realistic.
Special thanks to Shwiggie for finding this story.

Superman Returns score

Superman PosterSoundtrackNET has many samples of the forthcoming score to Superman Returns, by John Ottman but based on the work of John Williams in the 1978 Superman.

I heard the Star Wars Episode III score before seeing the movie about this time last year, and I’m really amazed music like this holds up so well on its own.

Of course it helps that I love William’s Superman theme.

Ohh!  And the release date has been pushed up 2 days!  June 28 is the new day according to the official site! Hope my local IMAX 3D screen can accomdate this advance.  I want to be there at midnight on the 27th.

LOST Toys

lost_charlie_photo_02_dp.jpgSpawn.com announced they’ll be rolling out toys (or figures or statues or whatever) based on the hit show “Lost.”

Charlie is the only one revealed so far, but the first wave will include Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, and the late Shannon.
Sawyer and Mr Eko will be in the second set, and The Hatch will also be represented in a diorama form.

I can only pray for some kind of sound chip for Sawyer so he can dole out one-liners and nick-names to other characters.

IGN re-launches their Dreamcast page

dreamcast.jpgIn a real head-scratching maneuver, the staff of games mega-site IGN has decided to bring back dreamcast.ign.com.
Their reasons are suspect. I can only guess that the fanboy fervor that still surrounds Sega’s final console is active enough to cause the management of IGN to allow this to happen.
Of course, I wouldn’t post about such a thing if I wasn’t a pretty big fan of the Dreamcast too…

Wii $250

wii.jpgOn May 25, Nintendo announced Wii would not exceed $250.
Today, they made it official: Wii will be $250 exactly.
