It has been 10 years since we were last taken for a ride, and now it looks like Marvel has finally remembered their characters were best served under the Capcom banner.
Capcom had a big media event last week in Hawaii, but all the games they premiered have been supposed to be secret until today. Even as of this writing, this trailer wasn’t supposed to be out yet. Still, someone who loves to see Hulk smash Chris Redfield uploaded it, and for that we thank you.
The trailer shows MvC3 running on MT Framework, which also powered Street Fighter IV and Capcom vs Tasunoko. Capcom has confirmed it will continue with the over-the-top combo systems of previous VS games and will feature 3-on-3 matches. The official image posted above shows the 6 characters from the trailer and some silhouettes of other popular Marvel and Capcom characters. Captain America, Deadpool, Dr Doom, Super Skrull, Mephisto, Black Widow, Frank West, Felicia, Dante, and Chun-Li are all speculated and likely candidates.
Thanks to MaxCon on our forums for the trailer link. More news about this and other Capcom games should surface today.
UPDATE: Capcom Unity has published the press release! Read it after the jump!

GameSpot has the first look at Activision’s newest Spider-Man game, which has the wall crawler going all Jerry O’Connell on us and traveling to alternate dimensions.
The above trailer shows us the “noir” dimension, which looks to me more like Batman with Spider-Man’s powers. Since we now have regular Spider-Man, and dark Spider-Man, it will be interesting to see what the next 2 dimensions end up being. Thoughts or theories? Leave a comment. I’m putting a dollar on Marvel Zombies and Anime Spider-Man myself.

Casting for Captain America has been highly public, with every young male actor vying for the role. I was pulling for “Office” star John Krasinski, but he got dropped early on. Channing Tatum was apparently in the top 3, if Marvel wanted to go the unlikable stone faced dancer type.
Now it appears that Chris Evans has been forgiven for his participation in the two laughable Fantastic Four movies by being given potentially the biggest role in Marvel’s movie universe. For DC fans, imagine if John Wesley Shipp was given the role of Superman and you might begin to appreciate how odd this casting is on paper.
That said, its hard to argue that Evans isn’t a likable guy on screen and his performance as Johnny Storm was one of the things that didn’t stink about the F4 flicks.
Slightly less surprising is Hugo Weaving as Red Skull. Having already played Agent Smith in The Matrix and Megatron in Transformers, Weaving could be on his way to being typecast as the ultimate villain. At least this time he’s not a robot.
“The First Avenger: Captain America” is set for release in 2011 and will be directed by Joe Johnston. Shooting begins this shortly, and will be set largely during World War 2.
If you can’t wait to see a Captain America movie, catch the absolutely shitty direct to video one on hulu.

Robert Downey Jr sat down with Jimmy Kimmel last night following the Oscars and showed off another 2 minutes of spliced together footage from his new movie, void of narration or context. In show business they call this a “trailer” and its supposed to make you want to see the movie because you have no idea whats going on. I made a point of recording this show on my DVR since it ran well after my bed time, and was disappointed to see that ABC has not seen fit to give Kimmel and HD camera for his show yet. So you, dear reader, get to see the footage in HD first.
As it was before, you can find the new Iron Man trailer on Apple.com in all your HD and iPod toting variations.
Ok, its also on Youtube. [Read the rest of this entry…]

Marvel continues to tease our palettes as of late. Following up on their news of Heroic Age, the House of Ideas is now posting more teaser images of an upcoming X-Men crossover event called Second Coming which will debut in March 2010. The story will feature Hope’s return to the present. The images feature taglines of ‘One will lead them’, ‘One will die’, and ‘One will rise’. The ‘One will Rise’ image is featuring two versions of Hope, the mutant messiah, now in her late teens. She was the mutant baby from the Messiah CompleX storyline a couple years back. The issues of Cable have featured her and Cable prominently as they jump across time to flee Bishop who is desperate to kill Hope and prevent whatever heinous event she triggered in his future’s past. Catch all that? Well the kicker is that one of the two versions of Hope here looks like she is host to the Phoenix force and not in the good way.
Apparently this event was announced at the Diamond Summit ’09 that took place at the beginning of the last quarter for 2009. Marvel.com has a great article on it here. I suspect there will be more teaser images revealed, but this was the first I had heard of the crossover event and I was immediately interested. The adventures in Cable have been great and I look forward to what happens next.

Marvel.com has posted a new teaser clip of the forthcoming straight-to-dvd feature, Planet Hulk. The clip features the beginning of the first fight between the Hulk and the Red King in the arena. I was excited for this having read the fantastic story in trade paperback form, but the quality of the animation has me even more stoked. The initial Marvel Animated DVD offerings were shaky at best, but there has been noticable and steady improvement with each one. If you cannot wait for this DVD’s release, I would suggest checking out the last DVD feature from the House of Ideas, Hulk Vs or picking up the Planet Hulk trade paperback. The animated Planet Hulk comes out this week on February 2nd.

Man that was a loaded headline. You get all that?
AC/DC are contributing what appears to be the entire soundtrack to the next Marvel motion picture. The above video is “Shoot To Thrill” which is a song that originally appeared on AC/DC’s Back In Black album (which most of you should own since its sold 49 million copies and sits behind Thriller as the #2 highest selling album). the album AC/DC: Iron Man will release on April 19, and has 15 tracks.
The video has some new footage not seen in existing trailers, and a lot of stuff we’ve seen. Its all intercut with a performance from AC/DC last month in Buenos Aires from December 2009.
Its unlikely that the whole movie will be filled with AC/DC songs, but “Back In Black” was a big part of the first Iron Man’s advertising and soundtrack so I guess they’re just trying to fill out some corporate cross promotional potential. Still, if you never bought and AC/DC record, this might not be a bad start.
