LOST series finale already being planned

lostseason3cast.jpgIn a move designed to avoid a situation like The X-Files(went on too long) or Alias (too short), TV Week reports that the producers of Lost are in negotiations with ABC to determine an end date for the series.

Lost has been very successful in its first 2 and a half years on air, but fans and critics worry the show may be wearing too thin or may pile on more mysteries than it can solve. A definitive end date would push writers toward a finish line they know when they’re supposed to cross. Its been suggested they go to 100 episodes or 2 more seasons, which may be a comprimise between those who want to end it before it wears out its welcome and those that might want to keep it on air until its dry.

Whatever the case, the good news for fans is February 7, 2007 is the date the show returns from hiatus; now over 70 days from the crash. ABC.com is running short clips until then.

LOST: Complete Hanso Exposed video (and Toys!)

Over the summer 70 seperate snippets of video were released to HansoExposed, threatening to reveal the intentions and history of the mysterious Alvar Hanso, the unseen catalyst for many of of the events on the TV series LOST.
Here is the complete video, dutifully reconstructed. I might mention the potential for story spoilers here, but since the intent was to give hardcore fans something to do in the nearly 5 months the show is off the air between the May finale and the October 4 return, I’ll bet you’ll watch it anyway.

hurleytoy.jpgSide note: Have a look at this adorable Hurley action figure that showed up on TNI this week. Actor Jorge Garcia had his face scanned so its a perfect likeness, and he’s holding up the flag from the golf course he made in the first season.

Too bad its a Mcfarlane figure and will likely crumble to peices if I purchased it. You can take a look at the entire first series, that includes first episode Jack, the Hatch playset, and bad-ass survivalist Locke. The most accurate toy of the bunch goes to Shannon since shes as worthless in plastic as she is on screen!

Conan’s Emmy Intro

Like a lot of the civilized world, I don’t watch the Emmy Awards. Thankfully, INTER-NET saved host Conan O’brien’s introductory sketch. Conan is heading to the show, and crosses paths with many other TV stars on the way.

Bonus points to whoever selected music for the inclusion of “Police On My Back” by The Clash at the end.

Unsolved Lost Mysteries

jackkatesawyer.jpgSomebody call Robert Stack.

While Lost is on summer hiatus, fans have no way of getting answers to the mysteries that populate the island and its inhabitants’ pasts. So why not mull over all the unanswered questions?

Lost Mysteries compiles 161 strange events, questionable actions, and bizarre appearances. I thought I’d been pretty attentive to minor background things, but to see that the same car has appeared over and over in flashbacks with car accidents, I see we have a long way to go with settling this. Theres mysteries we don’t even know to solve!

LOST Toys

lost_charlie_photo_02_dp.jpgSpawn.com announced they’ll be rolling out toys (or figures or statues or whatever) based on the hit show “Lost.”

Charlie is the only one revealed so far, but the first wave will include Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, and the late Shannon.
Sawyer and Mr Eko will be in the second set, and The Hatch will also be represented in a diorama form.

I can only pray for some kind of sound chip for Sawyer so he can dole out one-liners and nick-names to other characters.

Mission Impossible III Review

Tom Cruise - Weird1 was awesome. 2 was enjoyable, though instantly forgettable. I saw no reason not to give 3 a try!

I went into the theatre expecting a nice fun action movie and not much else. It totally delievered on that level. Living up to it’s successors Mission Impossible III is an actioned packed guaranteed good time (not an actual guarantee).

When it comes to fun explosions, car chases, people jumping from helicopters and stuff like that I’m not generally a sucker for it but in this case I was at the edge of my seat from begining to end. On top of that there’s just all sorts of fun spy stuff. Messing with cameras, costumes, scaling walls, skydiving, retinal scans and all sorts of craZy stuff. It’s like James Bond only not stupid, boring or British.

Tom Cruise - MicCruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, really steps it up in this movie. So much so that I’m confident in saying Ethan Hunt could kick that pansy Jack Bauer’s ass any day of the week. Not only does he run like only Tommy seem to (very reminiscent of Minority report at times) but he jumps around, gets all blown up, shoots people, beats people up, nails a hot chick and acts super cool all the way through it. Tom is phenomenal in this movie. He’s been a real craZy freak with the Katie thing and his cult but when it gets down to it there’s one thing that distinguishes him from the likes of John Travolta and Kirsty Alley and that’s the fact that he’s a good actor. Whether it be in acting like an mental patient or in his latest movie we can always count on Cruise to put everything he’s got into a performance and that enthusiam is never more appropriate than in a movie of this tone.

Tom Cruise - YoungThe rest of the cast is also solid. Ving Rhames’s character is a nice favourite to see back. Didn’t really see any repeats with the others but the newcomers were all solid. New spy guys Larry Fishburne and Billy Crudup were interesting and well played. His love interest was smokin’ hot! Above all else the performance which really blew my mind was Philip Seymour Hoffman as villain of the week. He just came off as so mean and totally in control of every situation. He’s come a long way since stealing a kiss from Marky Mark.

Tom Cruise - Risky BusinessOne beef I had with this flick, which I understand is a problem with Abrams in Alias and that I have seen briefly in Lost, is this super annoying flash forward scene he shoves at the starting of the movie. Watching this flick was like watching Payback after having been exposed to the all too revealing trailer. I’m seeing things develop and I know exactly where the story is supposed to go but now I’m just guessing at ways in which the story will lead me there. I much prefer to just learn the story as it goes along especially when the flash forward is quite late in the movie. This wasn’t like American Beauty where it was so vague that I forget it happens until it comes back. It was just too much.

That being said I still think this was a really solid movie. A great thrill ride for people who just like getting really into a fun action movie. If you like Mission Impossible 1, Alias, Felicity or Tom Cruise you really need to check this puppy out.

PS: Tom Cruise is not gay.

Lost: the game!

losthurley.jpgThankfully this isn’t some crap console or PC title. Instead, it looks like it’ll be some kind of online web thing gathering clues from the show with the reward being more information about the show. Given how I still don’t know why there’s a polar bear on the island, any information about the show is a good enough reward for me.
Hit series “Lost” inspires a global online game
