I was browsing through my feeds this afternoon, specifically the Blogs@Newsarama feed and saw the following preview posted to YouTube. It looks pretty interesting. It will be based off of Darwyn Cooke’s comic that was highly influenced by the silver age of DC comics. This trailer was shown at SDCC and will apparently be released in Spring 2008, though the B@N post says February 2008. Amazingly, ComiCon is not all movie trailers, toy prototypes, and video game news. Theres also TV news! Well and comics, but I’m talking about TV here. Specifically a TV show thats been off the air far too long: FUTURAMA.
Thanks to the outstanding fan demand, Fox and Comedy Central are bringing the classic back in the form of 4 straight to DVD movies, which will be cut up into a full season of 16 shows for Comedy Central.
The first movie, Bender’s Big Score, will be released on DVD and on Blu-Ray Disc November 27th.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Mainframe’s TV classic CG animated series ReBoot will be brought back as a trilogy of feature films.
Mainframe was acquired by Rainmaker Animation last year, and they will produce the movies in house.
The story isn’t finalized yet, its something that will be up to fans. Zeroes2Heroes will be putting up pitches and samples from 5 writing teams on July 26th and fans will choose which direction the new ReBoot will take.
Something that isn’t clear in the article is if this will be a sequel, another story set in the same universe, or a flat out remake. Rainmaker seems to have some respect for the fans, so hopefully the tone will remain true to the original, and the original voice talent will be brought back on to reprise their roles.
With the animated Doctor Strange DVD approaching its release date (August 18th, available for standard DVD format preorder here, and in Blu-Ray format here), there’s a ton of information available on it already. According to SuperHeroHype, Universal Studio has announced Heroes’ first season will be making its DVD debut and high definition counterpart on August 28th. Each format will be packed with extras about the series. You can see all the details after the jump.
I know I’ll be keeping an eye out for this since the rest of the staff here has been hounding me to give it a view.
The Superman: Doomsday DVD arrives this fall, on September 18th, but the website for the movie has just launched! Alright, I admit, that’s not really news in itself, but what IS news is that there’s a pretty telling, very interesting behind-the-scenes trailer that runs as soon as you enter. Looks like Uwe Boll didn’t learn from his last screw ups regarding the BloodRayne movie franchise. A new movie, titles “BloodRayne 2: Deliverence” began production in January of 2007 with a grand budget of $10 million, and is set to release straight to DVD as of later this month.
This movie is supposed to take place in the wild west with vampire cowboys and Billy the Kid being their ringleader. Actress Kristanna Loken has thankfully not reprised her role from the first movie, and instead actress Natassia Malthe has taken her place as the bombshell dhampire huntress. Actor Zack Ward will be playing the role as Billy the Kid, which somewhat depresses me as I believe him to be better than something going straight-to-video, but that’s just me. Kinda hard to feel any kind of positive for the sequel of a movie that was considered one of the worst game-based films in existance.
