Although this movie is not available in North America, you can import it from Amazon Japan. The new Ghost in the Shell 2.0 Blu-Ray disc has English subtitles. The original Ghost in the Shell movie Blu-Ray has an English dub track and English subtitles. Both this and the new version are available in the box set. Both Blu-Ray releases will play in a North American PS3. I am not familiar with the DVD details, but it will likely not play in a standard North American region 1 DVD player.

The Dark Knight
I don’t think I need to say much here. This years follow up to Batman Begins has become the most popular movie this decade. Oscar worthy performances, music, and direction make this a must have for any movie fan. Available on DVD, Blu-Ray High Def, and in a special Blu Ray box set with a replica Bat-Pod.
In January 2009, Marvel will be continuing their series of direct to DVD movie releases with ‘The Hulk Vs’. The DVD will contain two short animated stories each featuring a different fight that the Hulk has been famous for. The first will be Hulk vs. Thor. The second will be Hulk vs. Wolverine. The trailer for Hulk vs. Wolverine was just released as you can see below.
HULK VS THOR – It’s gods versus monsters in this epic 45 minute movie! Never have we explored the explosive power of the Hulk like we have in this new film, every major character from the Marvel Thor universe is thrust into battle with this Green Goliath as he brings a new Ragnarok down upon the realm of gods.
HULK VS WOLVERINE- This dark, violent, smash and slash story was first told in issue 181 of THE INCREDIBLE HULK and the rematches have continued to thrill comic fans ever since. Now Marvel and Lionsgate takes the best of those famous comic book battles and merges them into one heart pounding 33-minute story.
There will be a complete advanced screening of the Hulk vs. Wolverine story at San Diego Comic Con later this month.
You can buy the Blu-Ray disc from amazon.co.uk for a reasonable price. They will ship to North America, and the disc will play on Blu-Ray players here too. Mine worked on a North American PS3.
Note that the cover art shown on the amazon.co.uk website shows the “Ultimate Edition” 2 disc version with 5 hours of extras and with a PG rating, as opposed to what I have which is a single disc, no extras version that is rated U. I ordered my disc on that same site so you may or may not end up with something better than I got. I did not notice this discrepancy when I shot this video, and was not aware of the art and extras listed when I ordered this.
Amazon is having a Sale on all HD-DVDs and Blu Ray discs. This aggressive pricing might be the thing to really push the format war to the next level.
Now with titles up to 50% off, movies like Serenity are as cheap on HD-DVD as they are for standard definition.
Stock up and save a few bucks on movies, its not clear when this sale might end. Amazon normally prices movies pretty well, but this is a lot cheaper than I’ve seen them go before. See the entire selection of Blu Ray and HD DVD.
Some hard details have been posted about the forthcoming DVD release of Mike Young Productions’ reincarnation of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
Volume 1 is already up for pre-order on Amazon here.
Mike Young Productions’ relaunched He-Man and the Masters of the Universe property is coming to DVD. As previouslyreported, BCI Eclipse will be handling it. Mattel has loads of material to contribute for special features. He-man.org reports:
TvShowsOnDVD.com reports that the first DVD set of the 2002 Mike Young Productions’ “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” could see a February 2008 release. The series would be split over 3 sets, each containing 13 episodes in anamorphic widescreen presentation.
Early advertisements for the set have already made their way to the public. You can see one on the inside cover of Agent DVD Magazine, which I have conveniently take a screen capture of seen below.
He-man.org also mentions that there is more than likely going to be a Blu-Ray release of the set because there was a marked improvement in quality. A HD-DVD release is also in discussion at the moment.
Viacom has mentioned in this press release that Paramount and Dreamworks are now exclusively backing HD DVD over the competing Blu-Ray format. In recent months as many studios who had been backing HD DVD began releasing movies in both formats it’s a bit unusual to see studios taking the side that’s having less economic success.
Studios affected by this deal are Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Animation SKG, DreamWorks Pictures, Paramount Vantage, Nickelodeon Movies and MTV Films. The first features to be released exclusively to HD DVD will be Shrek the 3rd, Blades of Glory and Transformers.
No doubt this will mean great things for HD DVD as this format war really comes down to who gets the better exclusive titles. Naturally some biased people are getting their panties in a bunch over the whole debacle.
Coupling this with the resent increase in the number of weekly HD DVD titles released it certainly looks like the early lead Blu-Ray had in this format war may not have been the quick end it once seemed to be.
