Young Justice is a new series coming to Cartoon Network based on the DC comics of the same title. Its not directly affiliated with previous DC Universe animation such as Justice League Unlimited or Teen Titans. If you haven’t see the preview clip already, watch it here.
But that doesn’t mean those characters are off limits. At a panel at New York Comic Con, Series producers Greg Weisman (Gargoyles) and Brandon Vietti (Batman: Brave & Bold) showed that this younger Justice League will serve under the direction of the Justice League. Batman, Red Tornado, and Black Canary will play a direct role in the training, dispatch, and care of the team. Not that there aren’t some other heavy hitters that will show up as well, as you can see by the character designs. Titans Tower reported some of the voice cast of the show as Bruce Greenwood as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Green Arrow, Nolan North as Superman, Phil Lemarr as Aquaman and Rob Lowe as Captain Marvel. Greenwood previously played Batman in “Under The Red Hood” as well as Captain Pike in the 2009 Star Trek film.
Weisman claims they have over 150 DC characters slated to appear in the show, with original characters kept to a minimum. They have no restrictions or embargoes on who can appear in the show, so any DC universe character can and likely will appear in Young Justice.
Robin will be the Dick Grayson version, and Kid Flash will be Wally West. They’re starting over the entire DC animated universe with this show, and adding some original touches to characters. Superboy will be Conner Kent (eventually), but will start the show as a clone of Superman only 16 weeks old.
Young Justice announced voice cast will be as follows: Jesse McCarthy as Robin, Jason Spizak as Kid Flash, Khary Payton as Aqualad, Nolan North as Superboy, Danica McKellar as Miss Martian, and Stephanie Lemelin as Artemis.
A preview episode will air on Cartoon Network in November 2010, the rest of the 26 episode season will follow in Spring 2011.

I had some happy news in my inbox this morning in the form of a press release from Shout! Factory and Rainmaker Entertainment (formerly Mainframe Entertainment). It appears that the first fully CGI animated series, Reboot, will finally be released as a complete series set. Currently only seasons 3 and 4 are available on DVD and go for ridiculous sums of money on e-bay. It looks like we’ll see the complete series box set sometime in 2011, followed by some sort of ‘digital distribution’. That sounds to me like they may put individual episodes up for sale on iTunes/Amazon/Netflix, but thats pure speculation.
You may recall that we covered Reboot in our weekly Powet Alphabet feature here:
R is for Reboot

Discovery Kids will become “The Hub” in a few weeks, and preview advertisements like this are already running.
In addition to a selection of new original programming, these ads also indicate some classic shows as well. Fraggle Rock, which originally ran on HBO in the 1980s, will rerun on The Hub with all its Muppet goodness. In addition: Batman Beyond, a spinoff of Batman The Animated Series will be running on the network.
These are the only out of left field selections on the network. Look forward to Doogie Howser, Family Ties, Wonder Years, and Laverne & Shirley to be regular night time programs. Looks like The Hub is going strong against Nickelodeon and Nick At Night.
Early reports of the schedule indicate that the original Transformers and GIJOE animated series will air along with their modern updates.
You can see the first two days of programming here.

Back a long while ago, I had posted about a live-action Voltron movie supposedly in the works, though it’s been many years since mention has been made of the issue since.
Looks like there’s still hope, though. JoBlow.com has some exclusive photos of the new movie up on their site.
It appears that Atlas Entertainment has taken the reins on the project and is gearing up a pretty impressive pitch. Apparently, they’ve hired the currently hot screenwriting
tag-team of Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. The names may not sound familiar to you, but they might soon. The duo wrote the upcoming CONAN flick, and are currently scribing the DR. STRANGE and UNCHARTED: DRAKE’S FORTUNE adaptations
Color this Voltron fan excited.
