Famicom Dojo Podcast: Tokyo Game Show 2014

Famicom Dojo Podcast 105: Tokyo Game Show 2014

We haven’t been to Tokyo Game Show in person, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been to Tokyo Game Show! Famicom Dojo has had an official presence covering the show in 2013 and 2014. This year we got Mr. Presence on the show to discuss what he saw on the floor this year. Sean and Vinnk welcome David to the podcast for the first time to talk about how the console market is going, bemoan Square-Enix’s risk-averse library, and the difficulty of coming down with Sonic Boom.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Den of Shame

Famicom Dojo Podcast 104: Den of Shame

Is it wonderful or worrying that two grown men need a place to store all of their stuff from a childhood that in some ways never ended? Or is doing a podcast and video series about classic video games excuse enough? Vinnk and Sean have both moved into new houses, and new places to keep all of their cool stuff. Sean rediscovers Punch Out for Wii in Future Retro, and Vinnk tells the harrowing tale of his missing Retron 5 in Pile of Shame.

Deadpool movie gets a release date

deadpool-cool-story-bro

After X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out, it was unclear if Deadpool would get his own movie. There was a script and intent, but the disappointing portrayal of the character in the movie put many off. Fox was very hesitant to greenlight the project after the disappointment of both X-Men 3 and the X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Lately, things have shifted in the other direction gaining momentum for the movie. The success of X-Men: Days of Future Past, a widely well received leaked teaser reel of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and most importantly from the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has forced Fox’s hand to expand the X-Men franchise into a wider universe of movies. We now know that Deadpool will be one of those movies.

Deadpool will make his solo debut on February 12th, 2016.

Deadpool joins a very busy cinematic release year including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America 3, Doctor Strange and Sony’s Sinister Six. It is an exciting time to be a comic book fan!

Famicom Dojo Podcast: 3DS The Third

Famicom Dojo Podcast 103: 3DS the Third

It’s a bit later than expected, but the 3DS has finally gotten the second stick (well, a nub really), and enough buttons to make it nearly feature complete with a Wii U GamePad. A herald of things to come for Nintendo, or sheer coincidence? Sean and Vinnk wonder if this is the next logical step for the 3DS, or merely a placeholder for what’s really coming next. Vinnks Zonks out with Future Retro, and Sean tries out a Nintendo classic finally coming to the US on 3DS Virtual Console. Vinnk adds another chapter to his Ace Attorney 5 saga in Pile of Shame, and Sean tries out Vindicators thanks to Reddit.

$20 Game of the Week: Bioshock Infinite (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

Bioshock-Infinite-logo

Bioshock is the third (and likely final) entry in 2K/Irrational’s genre-bending FPS series. Infinite leaves the sunken dystopia of Rapture behind for the beautiful sky-island of Columbia. Players take control of former Pinkerton agent turned Private investigator Booker Dewitt as he infiltrates the island in search of a young woman with mysterious abilities. Of course the mission is anything but easy, as the island’s inhabitants and ruler Comstock exhibit the worst of early 20th century racism, sexism, and xenophobia. That’s not even mentioning the civil war taking place on the island and the nightmarish human/robotic amalgamations you’ll be doing battle with.
