June was another busy month for the site! Not only did we bring you FIVE new videos and FOUR podcasts, we had more text features and news posted than any month this year so far!

We set the bar pretty high for a 30 day month, so we’ll see how we do in July, or if we’ll succumb to summer vacations and lounging by the powet pool.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Botcon 2010. This year was the innaugural year of the Transformers Hall of Fame. Inductees included Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Hideaki Yoke, Kohjin Ohno, Peter Cullen and Bob Budiansky. Watch the video for more on the topic!

Jeph Loeb, the comic writer responsible for successful runs on Batman, Superman, The Avengers, and other characters has been appointed the head of a new TV division of Marvel Entertainment. He’ll be in charge of seeing Marvel comics characters translated to TV in both animated and live action formats, as well as direct to DVD movies.

Loeb is no stranger to TV, having been a contributing writer to Heroes, Smallville, and Lost in recent years. He’s been under exclusive contract with Marvel since 2005.

Now lets get this out of the way: Loeb is a mixed bag. Yeah, he’s written some legit classics like The Long Halloween, but he’s also gotten some of the most vocal critical lashing I’ve ever heard on a comic writer. Still, he’s familiar with both side of this business and perhaps as a creative director and executive producer he can be more effective than he was on Heroes or The Ultimates.

What do you think? Is now the time to turn X-Men or The Punisher into a weekly live action series? I think it is!

These days, the Duke Nukem franchise has regulated to a running gag, especially with Duke Nukem Forever being delayed so much that it has been all but confirmed as canceled. However, it wasn’t already like this for the series. In fact, when it was released in the mid-90s, it stood alongside games like Doom and Rise of the Triad as one of the early great first person shooters and to this day it’s still well-loved by fans. Also like those early FPS titles, Duke has managed to earn its fair share of controversy with it’s sex and violence. Starring as the titular character, your job is to thwart an alien invasion. You’ll shoot up dozens of mutants across a variety of environments. While the game’s premise is nothing new, the game’s sense of humor sets it apart from the pack. The game parodies many pop culture icons, and the cover itself was inspired by the film Army of Darkness. You’ll also encounter women in various states of undress, which caused the game to earn a considerable amount of controversy.

Look, we all miss Conan. Its OK. Lets move on.

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon is probably the most geek friendly network TV show on the air, and they tested the limits. This week was “Video Game Week” since Jimmy couldn’t go to E3, he brought on a game demo every night. Last night for the finale he had Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Amie show of Donkey Kong Country Returns. Jimmy mentions the last DK game he played was on N64, and then Reggie tried to correct him by saying it was a Super NES game. Nintendo’s revisionist history at work.
