The Avengers & The Transformers Fan Trailer

Footage taken from trailers from “The Avengers,” “Thor” and the “Transformers” movie series.

Music is “Strangers” by Portishead

Inspired by the fact that Loki and Shockwave have the exact same spaceship.

Before Watchmen: Amanda Conner Draws Silk Spectre Time Lapse Video

Before Watchmen‘ has already shaken the comics community and a lot of opinions have been raised as to whether the books will be good or bad, or if it is right on wrong to continue the stories.

But something you can’t argue with is seeing some talented artists try their hand at these classic characters. Amanda Conner is a personal favorite of mine, and a fan at Megacon a couple weeks ago commissioned a Silk Spectre piece from her. The fan recorded the whole thing and posted this time lapse of her sketch, ink, and color of the Watchmen character.

If this is indicative of her work on the final book, a collaboration with Darwyn Cooke, then I’m going to buy at least one of these Before Watchmen titles and enjoy it.

In a related news, IDW publishing is releasing a hard cover Art Of Amanda Conner book, taking preorders now.

Cartoon Network presents DC Nation teaser

Cartoon Network will be brining us a full hour of exclusive DC Comics based entertainment. The DC Nation block will debut March 3rd at 10:00 AM ET. The block will feature animated shorts such as the one featured in the teaser video and will be anchored by the Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

As an adult, I’m pretty amused by this. As a kid, I think I would love it and so would my short attention span.

Power Girl Comes Back To DC in ‘World’s Finest’

DC Entertainment today revealed the first cover for the forthcoming “World’s Finest” comic book. This book reintroduces Power Girl to the “New 52” and teams her with Huntress. It is a fish out of water story, as both of these characters are from “Earth 2” and are lost in the new DC Universe.

Which is to say, they are going back to the silver age origins of both characters. Nothing wrong there. They even got a silver age throwback, George Perez to draw the cover. Kevin Maguire is said to be doing interior artwork.

Except, this is a pretty disturbing cover. The goal of the New 52 was to modernize the characters, then why does Power Girl look like a throwback? She’s got a new cape, knee high boots, gauntlets and a terrible haircut. This is a lot worse than just taking away Superman’s red speedo. The ‘boob window’ and the crazy sexuality of Power Girl is what helped make the character. It is why the run with Palmiotti/Grey/Conner was so popular. She is supposed to be ridiculously, comically attractive. Dude’s fawn over her, she kicks their asses. That is the way it works.

This cover, much like the new DC logo that it will bear in the top left corner, is completely uninspired.

Hoping Kevin Maguire can do something with this design. I also hope Paul Levitz brings some levity (if you’ll excuse the pun) to the stories. It would be a pity if one of the most entertaining and beautiful books of the old 52 ended up being a drag.

The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

It has been quite some time since that initial teaser.

Sony has been very big on calling this movie the “untold story” to keep some interest in seeing the origin story of Spider-Man again. Is this movie looking like it will live up to that? Is this an “untold story” or have you seen and read it all before?

The Avengers Super Bowl Trailer Extended Cut

I missed The Avengers teaser that ran during the Superb Owl. Turns out that I didn’t need to see it, since the Avengers Facebook page posted an extended version.

I can’t tell you what is extra about this one, but I can tell you that we see The Hulk and we have confirmation of the army that it will take to bring the team together.

The Avenegers, directed by Joss Whedon, will release on May 4. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, and Stellan Skarsgård.

Star Wars Omnibus: Droids and Ewoks trade paperback coming soon

Star Wars Omnibus: Droids and Ewoks Trade Paperback

The Star Wars Expanded Universe is really lame … except of course when it involves the greatest species in the Star Wars universe, the Ewoks! This June Dark Horse will be releasing a trade paperback collecting all the issues of the Droids and Ewoks comics.

Ewoks comic issue #1 (1985) The Rainbow Bridge by Marvel Star Comics

Originally published from 1985 to 1987 the Droids and Ewoks comics, released by Marvel’s Star Comics, were based on the animated series of the same names. Droids is an 8 issue story following R2-D2 and C-3PO, the gay robots of Star Wars, in their adventures that predate the original film. Ewoks is a 14 issue story featuring the Ewoks as seen in Return of the Jedi, having great adventures on the Forest Moon of Endor. Retailing at $25, this 528 page book is quite a bargain.
