Its a big release week in the world of gaming. Portal 2 is being released alongside the latest incarnation of Mortal Kombat. Many community members are eagerly anticipating both games as both have been widely discussed in our forums. Just a reminder folks! Today is MattyCollector Day for the month of April 2011. This week sees the offerings of Sy-Klone, Panthor, Re-issue Moss Man (unflocked ears), and the long awaited Weapons Rack. It should be a tough day for all since the Weapons Rack was not included in the Club Eternia subscription service so brace for MattyCollector impact and lots of White Screen wait times.

Mortal Kombat comes out next week, but there is still more to be seen. G4TV had a trailer up for Shang Tsung gameplay, which I believe we have not seen yet. Be sure to pre-order your copy here before it comes out on April 19th!

USAToday had the first trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes coming to theaters in the United States on August 5th, 2011. James Franco, John Lithgow, Andy Serkis will be among the cast with Serkis voicing Caesar as well providing motion capture for the character.

@Botcon twitter account gave us a peek at the new convention comic by showing us a panel featuring the Trypticon Prison. The name of the story is called The Stunti-Con Job and promises to be a treat for Transformers Animated fans with designs by Derrick Wyatt (Art Director for the show), story by Marty Isenberg (Story Director for the series, and art by Marcelo Matere (IDW artist who pencilled the Animated comic).

If they are continuing their plans for the show in the comic and if the Allspark Almanac was any indication, the guards would have been minicons. It is more likely, though, that we will see some other repaints as the guards though in order to include characters that would be included in the convention souvenir sets. We’ll know soon!
