Powet @ PAX in Boston March 11-13

We’re going to be filming all weekend of course, and of course we’re going to have some fun too.

If you’re trying to find us, or just want to live through us vicariously, we’ll be live tweeting everything: follow us @powettv!

Deadpool vs Charlie Sheen

Last week Marvel Editor Axel Alonso asked fans if they’d like to see a team up with Deadpool and troubled TV star Charlie Sheen.

Because this is the internet, and we don’t actually think Marvel would follow through, and if they do we don’t want to wait, someone has already come through with this page.

Ben Christian and Cory Smith of The Independents deliver us less of a team up, and more of an adversarial meeting. But, as they said, strike while the iron is hot.

Remembering McDuffie: “The Terror Beyond” from Justice League

The late Dwayne McDuffie had credits on over 60 episodes of the Cartoon Network Justice League Series. In the wake of is death, I wanted to review one of his most memorable episodes. This one has magic, aliens, multidimensional monsters, zombies, gangsters, and Aquaman!

“The Terror Beyond” is from the second season of Justice League, and like most episodes from the series, is split into two parts. It opens with the US Military hunting for a very large target, revealed to be Solomon Grundy. After a rocket propelled grenade to the face, Grundy chucks around some tanks like they were nothing. One tank fires a laser(!) on him, and as the military prepares to capture Grundy and take him in, Aquaman comes to his rescue. Riding atop a purple sea serpent, Aqauman announces “If you want to live, come with me” and the two escape under water. Now I remember how awesome this show is. Ha!

Aqauman arrives not in Atlantis, but the tower of Doctor Fate. Fate’s wife Inza greets them, and Grundy is offered a chest full of gold in exchange for some task or information. As a more immediate reward he scarfs down two cupcakes. Doctor Fate arrives and is pleased to me “Mr Grande.”

Sucker Punch Second Trailer

Sucker Punch has another trailer, and even though its a lot of stuff we’ve seen before, its still a pretty spectacle.
The entire trailer is set to “Panic Switch” by the Silversun Pickups. Director Zack Snyder has hinted at a musical element to this movie, but outside of a trailer that borders on a music video, we haven’t seen any of that yet. We’ll find out on March 25 if this dazzling gamble pays off, or if the future director of Superman is in as much trouble as we’ve heard.

Transformers Dark Of The Moon Daytona 500 Trailer

Mostly the same one you saw during the Superbowl Trailer, but with a little dialog and a look at the Wreckers in action.
The Wreckers Roadbuster, Topspin, and Leadfoot naturally are featured in this trailer since they’re NASCAR racers with weapons all over.

Goodbye, Bizarre Creations

On February 18, Bizarre Creations officially closed its doors. Activison purchased the studio in 2007, and after 2 underperforming games (Blur and James Bond: Bloodstone), they decided to shut the group down. Previously, Bizarre had a stellar track record, including the Project Gotham Racing series for Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360.
Bizarre can also be credited with creating the success of Xbox Live Arcade and downloadable console games in general. Geometry Wars Retro Evolved was an early hit, and at only $5 sold very well and helped pave the way for the hundreds of score attack and arcade style games that now populate the service.
There is little doubt that without Bizarre the Xbox platform would not be what it is today. Not even close. It is a shame that their move to Activision and producing for the PS3 as well resulted in closure so quickly.
