New Care Bears series commercial, promotional art and more

Care Bears Welcome to Care-A-Lot - Tenderheart Bear and Wonderheart Bear

Commercials for the Hub’s new series Care Bears: Welcome to Care-A-Lot have been running on the network for a few weeks now. The trailer, seen below, and some of the promotional images that we’ve gotten from the Hub give us a good idea of how the show will look. On top of the Care Bear cast of the show is a human girl character who is not named, as well as a new Care Bear who has no “belly-badge” at some moments. According to information from Parade Magazine, this new character is named Wonderheart Bear.

The show is set to begin airing in a month with the premiere episode playing on Saturday June 2nd at 8am. Well have more information on this show as we learn it. For now, what do you think of the trailer? Does the show look like it will be worth watching?

Shia LaBeouf’s self published comics

Shia LaBeouf signing his comic at Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo

Shia LaBeouf. Actor, comedian, lover, fighter and, apparently, comic book writer and artist! That’s right, Shia LaBeouf, star of Even Stevens and the Transformers film franchise, has some self published comics. He surprised crowds at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo this past weekend as he and his girlfriend appeared at a table in the artist’s alley to sell and sign copies of his three self published books.

A page from the "Let's Fucking Party" comic by Shia LaBeouf

I know what you’re all thinking. Who do I have to kill to get a copy of these books? Well no one. All three books are available at The Campaign Book each for $10 and shipping or in ebook format for just $5. The books are “Cyclical”, “Let’s Fucking Party” and “Stale N Mate”. All books are written, inked and colored by LaBeouf himself. These books are also available in a number of comic book stores. A full list of these stores can be found on the web site. To stay up to date you can also follow thecampaignbook on twitter.

The Powet Top 5 – Most Difficult Video Games

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Game Over Screen - Do you choose to abandon the way of the ninja?

Welcome to the Powet Top 5, where we explore the top (and bottom) 5 items we think are relevant to any of a variety of topics that span the imagination. Sit back, read, and respond

Difficulty in a video game is a tough thing. Make it too easy, and there’s no challenge to it. Make it too hard, and if the player gives up on the game, it’s failed them. You pretty much want to make a game as hard as possible, so long as the player likes the game enough to push through and triumph, ultimately feeling satisfied for their win. This list is about games that, for better or for worse, are just too damned hard. There’s always a certain amount of shame associated with admitting that you find a game too hard, but I have no shame in saying that I am not able to beat any of the games on this list, and if you’ve been able to conquer any of them yourself I’d love to hear about it.

I’m sure you’ve all got your own games which make you so angry you could whip a gamepad at the wall, so feel free to leave a comment with your own list. With that, here are my 5 most difficult video games.

The Simpsons’ Springfield is in … Oregon!

Nik Choeychan in front of the Springfield, Oregon sign

In a recent interview with the Smithsonian Magazine Matt Groening, creator of the Simpsons, has revealed that the “Springfield” the show takes place in was actually based on Springfield Oregon! Fans have been trying to determine the location of Springfield for many years, as the show has given many, often contradictory, clues to the city’s actual location.

No doubt this will do nothing to settle the age old argument. The show’s city may have been loosely inspired by a city in Oregon, not far from Matt Groening’s home town of Portland, but the town of Springfield is a place all to itself.

Springfield, Oregon is a tiny town, home to only about 60,000 people at last count. Is that even equivalent to the number of guest stars to appear in the show over the past 23 years?

Thanks to Nik Choeychan who’s picture of the Springfield, Oregon sign I stole from his MySpace page. Could Nik be the inspiration for Bart Simpson? No. Not at all…
