Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag, ninja pirating at its finest!

Six games later, it has finally finally happened: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag mixes Ubisoft’s stealth assassin genre with a bawdy nautical theme, making what looks to be the best ninja/pirate crossover game to date. Will it be able to fulfill such lofty goals? Watch the trailer after the jump!

Of course, it makes one wonder just how Captain Edward Kenway squares ninja assassin skills, ideas of blending in with your environment, and melting seamlessly into the backdrop of ordinary life with being a notorious pirate. But who cares? Ninja-Pirate game!

This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has tried its hand at twirling, slashing, seafaring carnage. Warrior Within, the (oft-maligned) follow up to Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, had the Prince sailing off to the island home of the Empress of Time, a boss battle on the pitched deck of the ship right as the game starts (why, Ubisoft, WHY??), and… okay, the superficial similarities end there. But as the entire Assassin’s Creed series is.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is set to hit consoles October 29th. I suppose it’s too much to hope that it’ll swap places with Rayman Legends a month earlier, say for a September 19th release?

Do you plan on getting Black Flag? For which console? Do you wonder why the sixth game in the series is only Assassin’s Creed 4? (Well, to be fair, Bungie and 343 did the same thing with Halo…) Leave a comment below!
