Famicom Dojo Podcast: Extra Large

Wow, thanks! High praise indeed.

We actually thought along kind of the same lines, and maybe do 30 minutes a week recording two or three shows at a time since it’d be about retro stuff anyway.
But a few things happened.  First, listeners like you gave us wonderful feedback and suggested other kinds of topics.  We also got repeated requests for making the shows longer, until they were regularly an hour long — extra time we apparently had no problem filling.  We also started having a lot more fun, and as current events came up, we started tackling those too.  For some reason, they always tend to remind us of something retro. 😉

That’s how the podcast started, really — Vinnk and I would chat with each other, having enjoyable conversations about geekdom, and we realized (well, I think Vinnk did) that we should just let other people in on the conversation.  We usually mark out a talking point or two and prehash a topic, but it’s otherwise unscripted.  If you hear one of us sounding surprised or intrigued by what the other says, it’s genuine.  (Or a re-enactment of genuine surprise from the prehash).

I think that’s why people take to it so much.  We don’t have guests — at least not frequently, and certainly (so far) no one in the industry — and we’re not really trying to compete head-to-head with other game podcasts.

Hey, you should leave that comment on the iTunes page if you haven’t already!  Not only will you find people who agree with you, but it helps the show’s visibility.  *shameless shilling*

So speaking of filler, we ARE working on new stuff… just not as frequently as we thought.  Turns out doing a weekly podcast is something of a time commitment!  But it’s coming soon.  We have a lot of great stuff in the pipeline.
