We put together some of the highlights from the Sony press conference held at Tokyo Game Show 2011. We remind you that this press conference really focuses on the Japanese target demographic even though press from around the world was in attendance. Also primary focus will be on the PlayStation Vita, Sony’s followup to the PlayStation Portable.

Playstation Vita

  • Release Date (Japan): December 17th
  • NTT Docomo will be providing 3G support for Japan
  • 2 forms of pre-paid data plans
    • 20 hour pre-paid data plan – ¥980
    • 100 hour pre-paid data plan – ¥4,980
  • 3G reportedly will work across multiple media platforms (i have no idea what that means)
  • Touch Panel demonstrated
  • Vita can apparently multi-task
  • Transfarring talk from Hideo Kajima
  • Niconico video sharing (soon be able to stream game play over 3G/WiFi)
  • PlayStation Network will have plenty of games available from the PSP library
  • First 500,000 units will come with a pre-paid 100 hours
  • PS Vita w/ WiFi and 3G will cost ¥29.980
  • PS Vita w/ WiFi only will cost ¥24,980
  • Other Games
    • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be launch game in December
    • Street Fighter X Tekken will feature Toro and Kuro (black and white cat characters) on Vita
    • Lord of Apocalypse (Square Enix)
    • Army Corps of Hell (Square Enix)
    • Final Fantasy Type-0 (October 27th)
    • Final Fantasy XIII 2 (December)
    • Final Fantasy X to be remastered in HD for Vita
    • Metal Gear Solid HD (2012)

    • Zone of the Enders HD (content compatible between ps3 and vita?)
