While reviews of Teela and Zodac (2002) are coming in, Mattel has posted pictures of the upcoming bonus figure for January, Battle Armor He-Man. The original figure had an action feature that when touched, the chest would shift from a clean armor to a ‘battle damaged’ version of the chest plate with a slash. When pressed again, two slashes would appear. Pretty basic, but fun. The MOTUC line has no action features/gimmicks due to tooling costs. Instead this figure will come with swappable chest plates for each stage of the armor and its battle damage. Its a neat way to get around the action feature, but I think the lack of gimmick will really nosedive this figure’s potential interest. This was one of the earliest He-Man variants and one of my all-time favorites.

One thing I need to point out about these pictures is that the protective mailing box for him is actually labeled with ‘Battle Armor He-Man’ on it. This is really great because prior figures had no identifier on the outside of the outer box making it very difficult to tell which figure was which if you had several of them still sealed.

Battle Armor He-man will be the bonus figure for January.

Join us after the jump for Green Goddess, Randor and Mattel’s taunting facebook update!

Mattel’s facebook update revealing the Battle Armor He-man photos:

Just got in early packaged samples of the first variant of He-Man in his all new Battle Armor!

He-Man comes with removable chest armor with a pop out chest plate. Just snape in any one of the three chest plates to recreate the look of the spinning armor mechanism from the vintage toy. This toy does not feature a spinning tumble, but does include all three chest plates – standard, one smash, and my personal favorite, two smashes!

He also comes with his heroic Battle Axe just like in the famous painting of Battle Armor He-Man on top of Battle Cat. (anyone have the art book?)

And speaking of Battle Cat. We just got samples of him in package too, but the corners are all bent up. Bleh. We’ll try to fix it up and make it photo ready and get that up soon too. The final toy will obvioulsy have a perfect package. (or as close as possible!)

Battle Armor He-Man goes on sale January 15th, only on MattyCollector.com. He is a “bonus” figure and is not included in the 2010 Club Eternia subscription. Gets your before he rides away!

Considering all the flack Mattel caught for the disaster that was the MOTU Art Book at SDCC, its a little aggravating seeing that comment I bolded in there.

In addition to Mattel’s Facebook update, MattyCollector was also updated with listings for upcoming figures; Green Goddess and King Randor.

Randor will be the monthly figure for December. Is it me, or is anyone else getting a super Burger King vibe from this figure?

GreenGoddess_Listing_01 GreenGoddess_Listing_02 GreenGoddess_Listing_03 GreenGoddess_Listing_04 GreenGoddess_Listing_05

Green Goddess will be the bonus figure for December. For those wondering who she is, Green Goddess was a cameo character from the mini-comics that came with the figures in the 80’s.
