Gaming Archaeology: R.O.B.

He’s become an increasingly popular cameo in first-party Nintendo games, but what the Hell is R.O.B.? How does it work? Have you ever played Gyromite without cheating?

This is without a doubt the greatest R.O.B. themed video I’ve ever seen.

there are a few other ROB videos on youtube, but they offer no explaination or narrative to guide the viewer as to whats happening.

Wow! I’ve enjoyed all of the videos posted on the site, but this is probably the best produced video yet. Great job guys!

I’ll agree with that statement. I would have been happier if he took his pants off though I heard there was a new dress code on the site…

Me, I love the music selection.
“Holy shit, that’s wrong!”
Okay, yeah, so I watched this thing get put together, but it’s still fun to actually watch.

Damn, I forgot to put in that stitch of Mariokart footage we got. Oh well.
My next effort will be fully storyboarded.

The raised eyebrow, quick double-takes and eventual realization were priceless.
Nice video, guys.

Seriously, nice job guys. I really had no idea what R.O.B. did, but he looks pretty sweet in this video.

I seem to remember Caleb saying he couldn’t get his hands on a Power Glove.

I have my next few subjects plotted out, and the Power Glove is indeed on the horizon. I had one once, and I love it, but an adult-sized one is an expensive rarity. Also, it’s totally un-usable without a manual. Once I fulfill those two criteria, though: onto the plan it goes.
The Power Pad will also make an appearance.
[edit- Maybe I can't get an XL very easily, since eBay sellers don't usually mention the size, but they're not that expensive. I'll have a small-handed person operate it if need be.]

Adult-sized one? It’s one size fits all. I tried on Vinnk’s (portrayed in the Powet Japan video), and it fit just fine.

I’ve seen size designations on the boxes, and I’ve attempted to try on one that was too small. They come in different sizes. Besides, Vinnk’s is a japanese version with obvious molding differences. Maybe they only released the larger size there.

[...] Gaming Archaelogy: R.O.B. R.O.B. was Nintendo’s Robotic Operating Buddy, the toy red herring robot that got the original NES into stores after the video game crash of 1983. I have vague memories of this thing, but totally forgot how freaking slow it was. [...]

I remember R.O.B. from my childhood. How I miss him.
I also recall an incident when my little brother threw the top at my face. *ouch*
