We put together some of the highlights from the Sony press conference held at Tokyo Game Show 2011. We remind you that this press conference really focuses on the Japanese target demographic even though press from around the world was in attendance. Also primary focus will be on the PlayStation Vita, Sony’s followup to the PlayStation Portable.

While SeanOrange is off in Japan giving us the first hand account of whats happening at TGS this year, we are left to our own devices to provide you with arm chair coverage of the news and announcements trickling out from the land of the rising sun. Rather than do an article for every news item, I figured it would be easier to group these into one related post.
Just before the Tokyo Game Show this year, Nintendo held a press event that focused mainly on the Nintendo 3DS. We have tried to pull together most of what went on during the event here.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 is coming to Nintendo 3DS and this trailer gives us a sneak peak at what we can expect.

We’ve seen some images and rumors about an odd add-on for the Nintendo 3DS. Engadget alerts us that the peripheral has been listed on Nintendo’s Japanese web site with an expected ship date of December 10th retailing for ¥1500 (US$19.50). It will require a AAA battery. The device adds an analog stick to the right side of the controls, but I’m not too clear on what else it does. The listing also include a compatibility chart specifying what games that will work with the add-on (and their launch dates). Games include, but are not limited to Monster Hunter Tri G, Biohazard: Revelations and Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D.

In our younger days, we couldn’t have all the games we wanted. We had to play what we were given (or could afford), and we often played those games to death. Now? It’s incredibly easy for anyone young or old to buy more games at bargain-basement prices than they could ever hope to play in a lifetime. How much is too much?
