SuperHeroHype brought this oddity back to the forefront the other day when they posted the casting breakdown. Having finally read through it, I gotta say… It’s pretty freaking hilarious that they equated Ted Turner with the Green Goblin. Also, check the listing for the Arachne character for some delightfully bizarre plot points:

[ARACHNE] Female, 20-35 years old, any ethnicity. A beautiful, boastful young woman turned into a spider for her hubris and lack of respect for the gods. She subsequently appears to Peter Parker and the audience as in turn a powerful spider-woman who comes from another time to inspire Peter; an otherworldly lover; a bride; a terrifying (and sexy) dark goddess of vengeance; a dance partner in a charged and violent spiders dance of death; and, finally, a lonely, fragile young woman. Possesses an ethereal, unique, gorgeous singing voice. Strong Celtic, Balkan style, e.g., Sinead O’Connor. Outside the box ideas are welcomed. Could be someone from the music industry.

Know what else is crazy? Look who’s working on the music and the lyrics: “Bono and The Edge of U2”

And that’s actually how they’re credited. The “U2” part and all, like it’s part of their names. Mind-boggling.

Remember that recently released “final” trailer? Well, turns out it wasn’t so final after all. Less than a week later, they’ve released a new international trailer. It’s mostly recycled footage from previous stuff, but there’s a couple brief villain-centric scenes that haven’t been shown before. Check it out, in all its Windows Media Player streaming glory, in flavors hi-res, med-res, and lo-lo-lo-res. This is great, because what we really need right now is four hundred trailers for the film. Splice them together, and you almost won’t have to go to the movie.

The new, “FINAL Spider-Man Trailer” launched today, and while Comcast is doing a craptastic job of making you sort through their frustrating flash-designed sites – like mice hunting through the maze for our piece of cheese – we here at Powet are providing you direct links to the real movie files, not to those fake “.qtl” redirect files. Also, though it seems largely unavailable online anywhere, there’s a specific Spider-Man 3 trailer only playing before showings of 300 in certain locations… but not all of them, for some reason. Fortunately, the fine folks at DailyMotion.com managed to get a bootlegged version for the world to see. Yes, it’s shaky, and yes, it’s dark – it’s a bootleg, remember? If Sony would just release it online, there wouldn’t even be this headache for us to find it, now would there. Here’s the video itself:

All week long, the Spider-Man 3 Minimate waves have slowly been revelead, via Art Asylum, Raving Toy Maniac, Minimate Multiverse, and Wizard. Each unveiled images from the line, which (coupled with the two Spidey Minimates from Wizard World LA) added up to the entire 17th and 18th wave… Except for the listed Battle-Damage Spider-Man, which is strangely missing from the images released. Here’s a list of all the characters included:

I missed it yesterday, but Wizard World LA is featuring an exclusive two-pack of Minimates – Spider-Man and black-suited Spider-Man, as seen in a little movie called Spider-Man 3. The unique thing about this toy exclusive is that it’s also available for sale online, for the exact same price as that it’s selling for at the convention: a mere $7. You can buy them here, at the Diamond Select Toys site. Well, you can preorder them, at least. Estimated availability date is on March 26th.

The new Spidey trailer debuted a couple days ago at San Francisco’s WonderCon, and was featured during last night’s Heroes episode. To briefly summarize, it features a lot of Peter and Mary Jane’s love story, and a crazy badass fight sequence.
