I have been attending Transformers conventions for over a decade now. I not only own all of the convention exclusive sets offered over that time, I have experienced the convention and its prevailing atmosphere each year. I wanted to make a list of the five best Botcon exclusive sets, not just based on the toys, but on much more than that. Innovation. Character Selection. Overall theme. Fan Demand. I made this list with all of these things in mind to bring forth the most cohesive and synergistic sets to date. Have a look through each of my selections and let us know what you think in the comments.

Fun Publications, the folks who run the Botcon convention, have posted a picture on facebook revealing the box art for the 2012 convention box set. As seen above, the art features each of the six characters in the set; Metalhawk, Overlord Gigatron, Shattered Glass Tracks, Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus, Shattered Glass Treadshot and Shattered Glass Soundwave.
Botcon will be held in Dallas, Texas this year from April 26th to 29th.

Here is the big reveal of the final figure in the Botcon 2012 exclusive set of figures, Metalhawk. He uses the Thunderwing mold with a new head showing the humanoid head of Metalhawk’s Pretender shell. Below you can see some concept art of what the head was meant to look like along with some art from Evan Gauntt from the Botcon facebook page.
I think the helmet could have used some more color, but not bad. This is one of the more interesting figures from the set for sure. Let us know what you think in the comments!

We saw him during registration. Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus is a repaint of the Reveal the Shield G2 Optimus Prime mold. The head is molded in translucent plastic. It looks like a new head to me, but the clear plastic is throwing me off and I don’t have the figure nearby to compare. The only remaining figure now is Metalhawk, which will be revealed next week.

The folks from Botcon have revealed the next figure in their exclusive set for this year’s convention in Dallas. The figure is Shattered Glass Treadshot. He uses the Reveal the Shield Jazz mold with colors that appear to be from Armada Sideswipe and a stripe that resembles the one from Universe Treadshot. Confused? I am. I’m happy to see the mold get used, just surprised to see it used in this way. As a point of reference, the G1 Treadshot was a Decepticon Action Master.

Similar, to Shattered Glass Tracks, no real surprises here. We’ve seen Shattered Glass Soundwave on numerous occasions before and he’s always portrayed with this mold. He will not come with his yellow bandana, but it will be available for purchase separately from the club. Logistically speaking regarding the toy’s production, that makes a lot of sense. Speaking from a fan’s perspective, I can guarantee that move will cause a lot of frustration. In a stranger turn of events, the Cold Slither logo appears on Soundwave’s alt mode. Cold Slither is a GI Joe reference. In the old GI Joe show, the Drednoks masqueraded as a rock band called Cold Slither.

Botcon just updated with the latest figure reveal for their upcoming exclusive convention set of figures. Shattered Glass Tracks has been revealed. As expected, he uses the Reveal the Shield Tracks mold and features the E-Hobby exclusive Road Rage paint scheme. No real surprises here, but still a nice piece to get confirmation on.
What do you think of the reveal? Let us know in the comments!
