The biggest news out of Toy Fair for many was the official unveiling of Combiner Wars Devastator from Hasbro’s Transformers brand. 6 Voyager sized Constructicons will combine to form one giant sized Devastator. Each of the six figures rivals the original combined Devastator’s 9 inches of height, while the new combined form stands around 18 inches tall.

(Ages 8 & up/Approx. Retail Price: $149.99/Available: Fall 2015)
TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS COMBINER WARS figures form some of the largest TRANSFORMERS robots ever seen, and this one tops them all. This mega-pack unites all six of the CONSTRUCTICONS in one place. Each figure is rendered in incredible detail and features impressive conversion from robot to construction vehicle and back. But that’s just the beginning — the six Voyager Scale figures combine to form the ultimate DECEPTICON weapon: the mighty CONSTRUCTICON DEVASTATOR, the largest TRANSFORMERS COMBINER robot figure!
Botcon 2014 is nearly upon us. Signaling 30 years of franchise history, the convention is sure to be one for the books. This year’s set will follow the theme of pitting Decepticon Pirates against Cybertronian Knights. Join us after the break for a look at each of this year’s exclusives!
Tokyo Toy Show brought us a great deal of news last week and I wanted to make sure I collected the major highlights all in one place. Those major highlights, if you haven’t heard yet, were the official unveiling of 3 new Masterpiece Transformers figures. I have included video of the presentation below. The Masterpiece portion begins at the 15 minute mark.
Transformers Prime returns this weekend with the debut of Season 2. I hope you’ve all taken the break to catch up on the series because the story left us with one heck of a cliffhanger. Be sure to tune in to the Hub on Saturday, Feb 18th at 8PM ET/5PM PT.
Here is the big reveal of the final figure in the Botcon 2012 exclusive set of figures, Metalhawk. He uses the Thunderwing mold with a new head showing the humanoid head of Metalhawk’s Pretender shell. Below you can see some concept art of what the head was meant to look like along with some art from Evan Gauntt from the Botcon facebook page.
I think the helmet could have used some more color, but not bad. This is one of the more interesting figures from the set for sure. Let us know what you think in the comments!
Similar, to Shattered Glass Tracks, no real surprises here. We’ve seen Shattered Glass Soundwave on numerous occasions before and he’s always portrayed with this mold. He will not come with his yellow bandana, but it will be available for purchase separately from the club. Logistically speaking regarding the toy’s production, that makes a lot of sense. Speaking from a fan’s perspective, I can guarantee that move will cause a lot of frustration. In a stranger turn of events, the Cold Slither logo appears on Soundwave’s alt mode. Cold Slither is a GI Joe reference. In the old GI Joe show, the Drednoks masqueraded as a rock band called Cold Slither.
First a caveat. This figure is really Overlord. Hasbro or the club do not have the rights to call him that, though, so they have given him the name Gigatron instead. He is using the Voyager Bludgeon mold from the NEST Revenge of the Fallen line. It appears that it will look pretty good in tank mode, but it looks really strange for such a powerhouse of a character to be using a samurai styled robot mode. I think the Straxus/Skullgrin mold may have been better suited even the scale would have been too small. The new head looks pretty good to me.
Its also relevant to note that this is the first movie line figure to be used as a Botcon exclusive. What do you fans think? Let us know in the comments!
