Project X Zone 2: Brave New World, the mega crossover featuring characters from Capcom, Namco Bandai, and Sega was featured this past week at the Tokyo Game Show, and several new characters were revealed. Chrom and Lucina from Fire Emblem Awakening join the cast, which now means that we could be seeing characters who aren’t originally from a Capcom, Sega, or Namco game. Also, Fiora from Xenoblade Chronicles joins Kos-Mos to form a team. These 4 characters will join characters such as Pheonix Wright, Leon Kennedy, and Jill Valentine as just a few of the many playable characters in Project X Zone 2. Huge multiverse-spanning crossovers seem to be the big theme this summer with DC’s recently concluded Convergence and Marvel’s current event Secret Wars. However, one event you may be missing is Archie Comics’ Mega Man/Sonic: World’s Unite, featuring characters from Mega Man and Sonic, along with Mega Man X, Sonic Boom, and the game libraries of both Sega and Capcom. The sequel to 2013’s World’s Collide, Worlds Unite doesn’t stop with our blue heroes, but instead brings in characters from Street Fighter, Nights: Into Dreams, Breath of Fire III, Alex Kidd, and more to give comic fans the greatest crossover videogame they’ll never play. Yesterday, we reported on a leak of possible new DLC for Smash Bros. This leak included everything from new costumes, to new characters, to new levels. We’re happy to report that not only is the DLC official, but it’s now available. The new content was revealed as part of Nintendo’s live Smash Bros stream this morning. Basically Smash Bros players can now get 7 new Mii Fighter Costumes (including Jacky and Akira from Virtua Fighter), a classic Smash Bros stage, and 3 new characters, including Ryu from Street Fighter. There is even a free Miiverse Plaza stage available. Click below to see the prices. The stream also revealed that several new amiibo will be released this fall, including R.O.B, Mr. Game and Watch, and Falco.

As you know, next week is E3, the wonderful time of the year where we get hyped up for games that we won’t see for at least another 4 months. We can only guess what surprises that Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, along with several major publishers and developers will have in store for gamers this year. However, today sees a couple of huge potential leaks: One, being a cel-shaded Transformers brawler and the other being new DLC for Smash Brothers. Unless and until they are confirmed at E3, these two rumors should only be taken as little more than speculation, even if we have screenshots.

According to the website Deadline, a new Mega Man animated series in in the works from Man of Action, producers of shows such as Ben 10 and Ultimate Spider-Man. A 26-episode series is planned for 2017, although there are currently no details about what network it will air on or its release schedule. Although fans aren’t too fond of MOA’s current effort Ultimate Spider-Man, I personally enjoyed the show. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the animation would work quite well with Mega Man. Besides, it’s not like it can be any worse than Captain N’s green dwarf with a speech impediment, the Ruby-Spears series from the 90s, or the bat-guano-insane Brazilian comic. This is probably the closest we’ll get to a new game for now. Then again, there’s also Mighty Number 9, which is available for pre-sale on Steam.

Puhleeze. Who wants a Hideo Kojima produced Silent Hill game written by Guillermo Del Toro and starring Norman Reedus anyway?

A few weeks ago, a potential classic, Silent Hills, was cancelled, and all trace of it was removed from the Playstation Network Store. What would have been a potential game changer for both the franchise and the survival horror genre in general is yet another case of what could have been. Although no definite reason was given for it, if you’ve kept up with the drama over the past few weeks, it’s evident that business politics, internal conflict, and the pending departure of Hideo Kojima all played into the cancellation. Sadly, Silent Hills isn’t the first high profile cancellation, nor will it be the last. Gaming’s history is rife with games that could have been classics being canceled due to a variety of reasons. I’ve done 5 previous installments on this subject alone.

A rumor had been flying around for the past few days that Project X Zone 2 was in development. Not only is this rumor true, but PXZ2 will be hitting the U.S this fall, same timeframe as the Japanese release. Like its predecessor, PXZ2 will be a crossover between Sega, Capcom, and Namco which will be hitting the Nintendo 3DS. The developers must have read my mind, because Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Manjima from Sega’s Yakuza series will be among the new characters in this entry. Tekken villain Kazuya Mishima and Devil May Cry’s Vergil look like they’re also going to be joining the fun. Leon Kennedy, Strider, and so many others will be a part of this game as well. Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, Tales of Vesperia’s Yuri and Flynn, and Mega Man X and Zero will be among the returning characters. What other franchises will have characters joining the fray? Streets of Rage? Final Fight? Tales of Xilla? Rolling Thunder? Remember Me? Dragon’s Dogma? Dark Souls? Aww, I’m getting too ahead of myself, I need to calm down. Just check out the trailer above and let us know who you would like to see.

You can’t help but think that this game was bought to console and PC as a way of making up for the debacle that was Resident Evil 6. WHen this game hit the Nintendo 3DS, not only was it one of the handheld’s biggest titles, but it also bought back the good old days of Resident Evil 4 and 5. While it’s not exactly the second coming of the franchise, it will help ease some of the wounds that were left by more recent titles in the series.
