It looks like some more of that Warner Bros. and DC Comics synergy is coming to fruition. The studio responsible for Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm (part of WB Games) has a new game on the way and it looks like a doozy from this trailer. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, both comic writers are penning the story and I can only hope it plays out as well as Mortal Kombat’s story did because that was the best storytelling I’ve ever seen in a fighting game. This fighter will feature a pretty great cast of characters just from the short list already announced in Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn and Solomon Grundy. The game is called Injustice: Gods Among Us and it really looks like the lines between hero and villain have been greatly blurred. Marvel’s had a pretty great run on fighting games for along time now, but I’m looking forward to see how far DC’s answer to those games can push the limits.
Injustice’ is our twist on the blockbuster over-the-top superhero game in a fighting game shell. We’re trying to add some major components to shake up the fighting game genre…One of the big kind of goals that we have its to is to have fighters that feel completely different from one another.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is coming in 2013 to PS3, XBOX 360 and Wii U.

Today, we celebrate Memorial Day. A day where we commemorate the sacrifices our brave soldiers have made for this country. However, we, as nerds, must also commemorate something else: games that have been canceled and left on the cutting room floor. Bow your heads in silence before reading this article. This weekend movie theaters everywhere will be running the trailer for the final act of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer is intended to play before screenings of The Avengers, so if you’re out for one of the biggest comic adaptations of the year, you’ll get a taste of the other.
But as you can see by this post, Warner Bros has graciously gone ahead and posted the trailer online for us to watch on our computer monitors and cell phones. I haven’t watched it yet, trying to save it for the theater. If I crack today and look at it, I’ll post in the comments all my thoughts and reactions.
Many fans were hesitant, to say the least, when the New 52 reboot was announced (including us: listen to our podcast about it). Six months and six issues later, how is the DC Universe doing?
Here are the top five things the New 52 does right:
DC Comics has announced that the Second Wave of the New 52 relaunch will start in May 2012 with the addition of six new ongoing titles. The six new titles are BATMAN INCORPORATED, EARTH 2, WORLDS’ FINEST, DIAL H, G.I. COMBAT, and THE RAVAGERS.
Here’s Bane, played by Tom Hardy, from the Dark Knight Rises, eating a cherry pie!

Bane’s mask bears a striking resemblance to the fingers of Kirk Johnson. The name may not be one you’ve heard, but chances are you’ve seen a photo of him. Do you think this is a deliberate reference or is that too much of a stretch?
The first trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was released earlier today. The Dark Knight Rises is the final movie in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, and comes out Summer 2012.
There it is, folks. The latest teaser poster for the Dark Knight Rises. This is the last and final movie starring Christian Bale as Batman. Bane will be played by Tom Hardy, while Catwoman will be portrayed by Anne Hathaway. The Dark Knight Rises will arrive in theaters on July 20, 2012.
