Pegg and Frost have quite a reputation after the show Spaced, movies Shaun Of The Dead, and Hot Fuzz for pleasing geek audiences with great action, dialog and satire of genre tropes. Paul will feature the pair with a small alien voiced by Seth Rogen. Also in the cast are Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver and Kristen Wiig.
The movie comes out in February 2011, directed by Greg Mottola.

Powet Alphabet: P is for Pocket Power

Pocket Power was available at retail in 1988 to 1989. The sets were made by Sega, but distributed by Tyco Toys (who were later absorbed by Mattel) in the United States. Pocket Power was the type of toy line that you could find both in your major toy retailer, like Child World, or even in your local pharmacy’s toy aisle. Pricing ranged from about US$4 to US$5 making it a fairly affordable purchase. The wide availability and reasonable pricing made this toy fairly popular for a brief period and that is why today P is for Pocket Power.

Lost Classics: Lakers vs Celtics and the NBA Playoffs (Sega Genesis, MS DOS)

During the late 80s and early 90s, there was no bigger story in basketball than the LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics, and this title from Electronic Arts bought it home like never before. More so than that, the game forever changed the way developers approached video game hoops. Lakers vs Celtics is perhaps one of the most significant sports games ever released. Playing off the successful and hugely popular rivalry, Lakers vs Celtics features the two titular teams along with six other teams that made it to the NBA playoffs during the 1988 – 89 season (Dos) or the 1989-1990 season (Genesis).

$20 Game of the Week: Sol Survivor (PC, Xbox Live Arcade)

Like Defense Grid, Sol Survivor is an independently developed tower defense title. Also like Defense Grid, Sol Survivor adds its own twist to the tower defense genre, making it stand out amongst similar titles in the genre. Oh, and just like Defense Grid, Sol Survivor is a good game that is available for a low price on Steam and Xbox Live Arcade. Sol Survivor takes place in the distant future. The galaxy is under siege from an alien race known as The Ascendancy, a group of creatures whose society is powered by the souls of sentient beings. This obviously doesn’t sit too well with the Sol Paragon, an organization of humanity tasked with defending human colonies. You have your pick of one of several commanders, each with their own selection of towers, as you try to defend your colonies from the aliens.

Reminder: October MattyCollector Day featuring MOTU Classics Roboto and Zodac

Its that time of the month again! Well, ok, not that time of the month. Today is MattyCollector day for the month of October. There are not many items up for sale today at Noon EST. The monthly Club Eternia figure will be Roboto, who we’ve mentioned might have some minor shoulder issues. The reissue this month will be Zodac. You can check out pictures after the jump and remember when ordering to use this page to make things easier for yourself.

Side note on the Zodac images. It appears that they just recycled the ones from the original listing because the packaging doesn’t show the starburst that all reissues have.

Tom Hardy Joins Cast Of Batman 3

UPDATE: Read HERE for newer information about Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises

Tom Hardy, known for his portrait of infamous British convict Charles Bronson, has agreed to take a role in the next Batman film.

Deadline reports that Hardy will reteam with director Christopher Nolan after the highly successful Inception. The role itself is being kept secret, its unknown if he’ll play a villain or hero but it will be a lead role. Begin speculation!

This news comes just days after Rhys Ifans was cast in Spider-Man, again in an secret role. At least the Spider-Man folks had the decency to tell us what side of the law Ifans will be on. Though I suppose considering Nolan’s Batman franchise, the good and bad guys are never quite so starkly portrayed.

Hardy also becomes the first person of note cast in the movie, though Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Cane, and Morgan Freeman are all expected to reprise their roles.

Young Justice On Cartoon Network Will Have Some Old Justice Too.

Young Justice is a new series coming to Cartoon Network based on the DC comics of the same title. Its not directly affiliated with previous DC Universe animation such as Justice League Unlimited or Teen Titans. If you haven’t see the preview clip already, watch it here.

But that doesn’t mean those characters are off limits. At a panel at New York Comic Con, Series producers Greg Weisman (Gargoyles) and Brandon Vietti (Batman: Brave & Bold) showed that this younger Justice League will serve under the direction of the Justice League. Batman, Red Tornado, and Black Canary will play a direct role in the training, dispatch, and care of the team. Not that there aren’t some other heavy hitters that will show up as well, as you can see by the character designs. Titans Tower reported some of the voice cast of the show as Bruce Greenwood as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Green Arrow, Nolan North as Superman, Phil Lemarr as Aquaman and Rob Lowe as Captain Marvel. Greenwood previously played Batman in “Under The Red Hood” as well as Captain Pike in the 2009 Star Trek film.

Weisman claims they have over 150 DC characters slated to appear in the show, with original characters kept to a minimum. They have no restrictions or embargoes on who can appear in the show, so any DC universe character can and likely will appear in Young Justice.

Robin will be the Dick Grayson version, and Kid Flash will be Wally West. They’re starting over the entire DC animated universe with this show, and adding some original touches to characters. Superboy will be Conner Kent (eventually), but will start the show as a clone of Superman only 16 weeks old.

Young Justice announced voice cast will be as follows: Jesse McCarthy as Robin, Jason Spizak as Kid Flash, Khary Payton as Aqualad, Nolan North as Superboy, Danica McKellar as Miss Martian, and Stephanie Lemelin as Artemis.

A preview episode will air on Cartoon Network in November 2010, the rest of the 26 episode season will follow in Spring 2011.
