Gears of War 3 – “Ashes To Ashes”

Gears of War 3 is one of the worst kept secrets in development, and but even though we all knew it was happening, no one got to see it until now.
After the harrowing escape at the climax of Gears 2, Delta Squad seems to be in even WORSE shape than at the start of the last 2 games. Dom looks like he’s practically given up at this point (or at least, given up shaving). Luckily Marcus, Baird, and Cole are close behind, and Anya has joined the fight on the ground now too. Designer Cliff Bleszinski was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for the debut, which you can watch here.

Out side of this interview, Cliff confirmed that there will be 4 player co-op for the campaign this round, and that the Lambent will emerge as a third faction fighting both Locust and Human soldiers.

Transformers Animated Update: Season 3 dvd, Rodimus, and Japan.

First, the bad news:

Unfortunately, there are no plans to release Animated Season 3 or to re-release Season 1 or 2 at this time. Granted, all plans are always subject to change, but we do not want to promise anything at this point in time.

Thats directly from Hasbro Q&A on Actionfigs.com. This is extremely disappointing to anyone who collected the first 2 seasons of course, but also leaves anyone who missed the show in its first airings completely in the dark. Hopefully Hasbro will remember that Transformers are still PRINTING MONEY right now and any more product they can get into the market is good.
Some of the last Animated figures, Rodimus and Ironhide will appear as Toys R Us Exclusives this fall. If you want these figures, get a job at Toys R Us so that you can buy them as soon as they come in. Arcee disappeared quickly, too quickly.

In lighter news, Animated will air in Japan soon, and it got a killer anime intro sequence.

This is the best thing since Shinin’ Your Soul!

Powet Alphabet: M is for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the Megazord Cockpit

Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.

The Might Morphin Power RangersIn the summer of 1993, a wondrous new phenomenon began with Mighy Morphin’ Power Rangers. This is a show which, in a way, continues today in vastly inferior shows also carrying the name “Power Rangers”. Here I will be discussing only “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”, which is what the show was called for it’s first 3 seasons, when the Power Rangers wore the first iconic uniforms they did. This spans the era of the Dinozords, the Thunderzords and finally the Ninja Zords, which includes the first movie. It stops when Power Rangers Zeo starts, but it’s best not to dwell on such things…

A Team of Teenagers With AttitudeThe concept of the show was simple. When the Earth is threatened, 5 teenagers are given the ability to metamorphosise or “Morph” into … well teenagers in spandex of the same colour as the only colour they have in their wardrobe, which gives them the incredible power of dinosaurs and weapons which they use to fight their enemies. They use these to protect the city of Angel Grove, which is always the target of attacks. Each week consists of them dealing with some life problem, facing off against a monster, good guys morph, bad guy is grown, good guys call giant dinosaur robots, good guys win. Rinse, repeat.

Lazy Sunday Live! Samburg, Parnell & The Roots

Its been years since Chris Parnell and Andy Samburg did the “Lazy Sunday” sketch on SNL. It gave birth to one of the best segments of the show, the Digital Short. It also brought mainstream attention to The Lonely Island, who released probably one of the best comedy albums ever last year.
Parnell was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night and for the first time ever, “Lazy Sunday” was performed in front of an audience, with beats by the legendary Roots crew. [Read the rest of this entry…]

Powet Alphabet: J is for JJ, Joss, and Judd

Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.

thejs

What is this composite, amalgamated entity? If you’re a fan of anything Science Fiction, Science Fantasy, or generally geek, you’ve seen movies and/or TV shows by at least one of these three gentlemen — if not all three — even if you don’t know their names. Of the many things they have in common, the most obvious (and least important) is that all of their names start with “J”. I frequently can’t think of one without thinking of the other two. Together they are like some triune entity, the three faces of a Geek (not “Greek”) god.

Let’s explore their credentials together.

Powet Monthly Digest – February 2010

A lot of stuff gets posted to Powet.tv, and you might have missed a lot! If you’re new to the site, or just haven’t been around in a while, take a look at all of the amazing stuff.

February was a short month. Combine that with most of the staff either caught in snow, preparing for life changing events, or gearing up for a big spring full of conventions, and this was a light month. We still managed to get several great text features from Will, Crazy, and Sindra; three hilarious and informative podcasts, and kicked off a new season of videos. Enjoy, and don’t forget to share on your favorite social media sites using the links below! The more clicks we get there, the more we know you appreciate what we do, and we’ll keep doing it!
