TakaraTomy releases papercraft couch for your Transformers Arms Microns

arms_micron_sofa

We, here, at Powet.TV bring you only the finest news in entertainment. Thats why we needed to share this official announcement.

TakaraTomy, the Japanese company that works with Hasbro to bring us Transformers, has posted a pdf file on their site (available here). This pdf is nothing short of a papercraft couch for your Arms Micron figures. These are the mini-con figures that have been released with the Transformers Prime figures in Japan. They are little robots or animals that turn into weapons for the larger figures to use.

Apparently, the couch comes in two flavors; Autobot and Decepticon.

Choose wisely, Poweteers. Choose wisely.

Let us know in the comments what other pieces of household furniture you’d like to see officially released from Takara!
Count me in for a kitchen sink. Megatron just finished dinner and Starscream has some dishes to clean.

Behind the scenes - Live Action Toy Story

Here’s an amazing undertaking. It’s a shot for shot remake of the “Toy Story” movie entirely made using puppeteering and stop motion with real toys and real human actors. The entire film was done and is available for viewing on YouTube.

Check out the Facebook page for this project for more on this incredible accomplishment.

Movie Posters: The Last Stand

I started this column because I really enjoy the diversity and potential for artistic creativity in movie posters (even if most nowadays are a photoshop disaster), but I have received a few requests to start including a movie trailer for each of these posts. Starting today, I will be including it after the jump for anyone who wants more info on the movie.

White House responds to petition for Death Star

obama-death-star

Not long ago a petition was created on the ‘We The People’ site setup by the White House to garner suggestions for legislation and direction in the governing over the nation. Essentially this site was created to help give constituents a further influence in their own government. Any petition garnering greater than 25,000 signatures will guarantee an official White House response. The petition in question was to secure funding for and being construction of a Death Star.

By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense

Thanks to the viral nature of a request like this, it took very little time for the petition to receive sufficient signatures for an official White House reponse. That response has been posted with plenty of Star Wars references to make it even better.

Continue on, dear reader, for the official White House response, Darth Vader response and DeathStarPR response.

Sims 3 Finally Enrolls in the University (Plus More)!

Even though EA just released the much sought after Seasons less than two months ago, they got 5 new add-ons (3 expansion packs and 2 stuff packs) coming throughout the next twelve months. This month will see the release of 70, 80s, and 90s Stuff, a stuff pack that will add outfits, hairstyles, and objects inspired by….you guessed it, the 70s, 80s, and 90s. This March, EA will bring us University Life, another much-requested expansion pack. From young adult to elder, Sims can enroll in a higher learning institute, pick one of several majors, and earn a career boost after graduation. They can also join one of three different groups; Nerds, Jocks, and Rebels (no foreign exchange students, goths, or ethnic identity clubs?). While not much more info about the game has been released, as you can see in the trailer above, Sims can engage in beer pong, paint graffiti, participate in student protests, pose naked for paintings, and a bunch of other fun stuff. The game will feature a new city with a comic book shop and a coffeehouse. This game is going to recreate my college experience to a T.

Red Band Trailer: The Last Stand

last_stand_ver1

The Last Stand is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first major film since leaving the office of Governor of California. He portrays small town sheriff, Ray Owens enjoying his day off, when a high profile drug kingpin comes through town trying to cross the border to Mexico.

I put the video after the jump because it had autoplay enabled. My favoritest feature in all the internet.

This feels very much along the lines of a classic Schwarzenegger movie. What will really be interesting is if such a film can compete in the modern box office.
The Last Stand comes to theaters on January 18th.

The Powet Top 5 – Best movies of 2012

Welcome to the Powet Top 5, where we explore the top (and bottom) 5 items we think are relevant to any of a variety of topics that span the imagination. Sit back, read, and respond

21 Jump Street - Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill

2012 is now behind us. The year came with it’s share of decent movies. I made a pact with some friends to catch most of the summer movies and aside from that crappy Spider-Man flick I can honestly say I had a good time at all of them. So here’s a look at my top 5 personal favourites of the year. I’m sure to miss some of your favourites so feel free to let me know why I’m wrong in the comments!

I already discussed my favourites of 2012 on this week’s Powetcast. I took a little more time to look over the year’s movies before putting together my final list. I also made sure I saw the Hobbit before I wrote this article, though you will notice that I found it undeserving of being included.
