Botcon 2008 Exclusive Optimus Prime revealed

Botcon 2008 Exclusive Optimus Prime Post Banner

Botcon.com has revealed the first figure from the 2008 Convention Exclusive box set of figures. The figure is a repainted Transformers Classics Optimus Prime mold. The theme this year is called ‘Shattered Glass’ and takes place in a ‘mirror universe’ of sorts, where many things are reversed. In this case, the Autobots are the villains, while the Decepticons are the heroes. Optimus will lead the evil Autobots.

I must admit, its a bit disappointing they only showed the robot mode for this figure considering the past two years, they revealed both modes.

Writers’ Strike Is Over

strikeover.jpg
Its been a hard couple months, but the writers will go back to work on Wednesday. Its hard to say what shows from this season can be saved and what will just have to wait to come back in fall, but late night talk shows can finally breath a sigh of relief and all the movies that have been held from production since November can finally get the scripts done and go into shootings.
Transformers 2 should go into production in June as planned, LOST should get some more new episodes before the end of the year, and GIJOE will hopefully get a drastic re-write to not suck. Mercifully, Justice League remains cancelled.

Bruce Campbell in “My Name is Bruce”

I’ve been hearing about this movie for a long time, and now I finally see a trailer. Bruce Campbell is the definition of a Geek God, and he’s a king of b-movies. In this film he’s playing himself and is charged with ridding a small town of an ancient Chinese demon. Looks like he’s playing with not only his own self image but that of movie stars in general. And even though the plot is ripped off Three Amigos, I’ll still see it.

Hulk 2 Abomination First Look

Hulk 2 Abomination figure ad

I know. I know. Its not Hulk 2! Its the Incredible Hulk. Regardless of how you choose to refer to this movie, it appears some images have surfaced
of some of the toys from an ad. This ad brings us our first look at Abomination, the Hulk’s foil in the new movie starring Edward Norton as the Hulk’s alter-ego, Bruce Banner. Abomination, also known as Emil Blonsky, will be played by Tim Roth. Here is a picture of what Abomination is more traditionally known for looking, along with an image with more of the ad than just Abomination.

Lost Classics: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (Arcade, Playstation, Dreamcast)

jojo.jpgAlthough it’s all but unknown over here, Hirohiko Araki’s manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has enjoyed a sizable following in its native Japan. A bizarre mash up of vampires, martial artists, fortune tellers, superheroes, and gangsters, Jojo is a story about the trials and tribulations of the Joestar family. A major focus of the series are the stands, psychic entities which grant their users powers. Much of the series has been inspired by music, as it features several characters who have been named after songs, rappers, and rock bands. The series has been divided into 6 arcs, each taking place in a different time period and centered around a different main character. Capcom produced a series of games based on the third story arc, in which Jotaro Joestar, his grandfather, and their allies travel to Egypt to defeat a vampire in order to save Jotaro’s mother from her own stand (don’t ask). Although they are fighting games, they are as far removed from Street Fighter as they get. The first game, Jojo’s Venture, was released in the arcades in 1998 and was bought to the PS1 and Dreamcast with exclusive features. In typical Capcom fashion, Jojo’s Venture received a championship edition-style update complete with new characters and features known as Heritage for the Future. A third game was released in Japan for the PS2, but never made it over here.

Interview with “The Zombie Hunters” Creator

The Zombie Hunters

If you’re a big zombie buff like myself, then you may have traipsed along the webcomic “The Zombie Hunters” in your internet travels. The title is pretty self-explanatory as to the premise of the story if you haven’t though (post-apocalyptic world with only a fraction of human race left surviving amongst the living dead type stuff going on). I managed to snag a small interview with webcomic artist and creator Jenny Romanchuk about her work on her baby.

Wolverine and the X-Men trailer

UPDATE: Video Embedded.

Cyber Group Animation, the animation company doing the new Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon, has posted this trailer on their website.

A lot can be seen about the story and the animation of this show from this short trailer. Wolverine, is charged with rounded up a fractured team of X-Men in Professor Xavier’s absence.

The character designs are close to those seen in X-Men Evolution, and this new show shares both a director and writer with it as well. It’s not totally clear whether or not this series is intended to remain canon with X-Men Evolution though we’re seeing many of the same characters appearing.

For more on this show check out the official site or it’s imdb page.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

fsm.jpgWell we’ve all seen 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Superbad at this point, and this next film out of the Apatow hit machine is Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This time Jason Segel takes the lead and is dumped by Kristin Bell. Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, and Jonah Hill also appear.
As you can probably expect all the crass and honest humor from earlier films return, and are present in this R rated trailer.
