Matty, of MattyCollector.com has updated his facebook page with a new update, a look at the Masters of the Universe Classics line from its inception to what we can expect in the future. It also has a brief explanation of the bonus figures and why they will not be part of the subscription, for better or worse. Now that we’ve seen a full year’s worth of releases and Matty has made clear what Mattel’s intentions are, it is only a matter of them being able to follow up on that and sort out the issues that Digital River is enountering with the ordering and shipping process. At the end of the day, I have faith that the next year of the line’s releases will be as amazing as this year’s, if not moreso. Assuming they can get them to me.

This little write up did answer a lingering question I had about why Scareglow was not the October figure for Halloween. I didn’t realize they had the line planned out as far as they did and what long-term consequences Mer-man’s delay caused.

You like the look of this fella with the wings, the funny mask and the mace? How do you feel about a whole movie about him?

It appears Hawkman is being considered as a next step for WB to get some serious comic movie cash before the gravy train runs out and people start wanting Westerns or something. Could be cool move, as there isn’t a lot of guys like him on screen now, and his abilities could make for some good visual effects sequences.

This is a real wild card though, since Hawkman has such a diverse history, they’re is no telling if he’ll be a reincarnated Egyptian or a cop from the planet Thanagar. Also will the wings be real or fake? Odds are if he makes it into a movie he’ll have to put on a shirt.

Hawkman will appear in live action form in Smallville next month, played by Michael Shanks. DC could be testing the waters, but then I think the people still watching Smallville at this point are a poor sample for future success.

Warner Bros has had a lot of false starts in recent years, and it seems they’re thinking outside the bat. Green Lantern is already a sure thing with shooting expected next year for a 2011 release. What could come after this for DC? Taylor Swift Supergirl?

Although Technos’s River City Ransom never gained much in the way of commercial success, it gained a cult following amongst fans with its humor and RPG-like gameplay. The game follows high school students Ryan and Alex as they take on River City’s toughest gangs in order to rescue Ryan’s girlfriend from the villain Slick. You (and a second player if playing co-op) travel around the city taking on each of its gangs. You can earn money to purchase new techniques, food to restore your health, and recovery treatments at the spa. The game featured a complicated password system to save stats, although various remakes (such as the 2003 Game Boy Advance remake) use a battery backup system. For those who missed it the first time, it’s available on the Wii Virtual Console for 500 points. Oh, and for giggles, check out Seanbaby’s River City Ransom Page.

Little Known Fact: River City Ransom is actually the third game in what’s known in Japan as the Kunio series. The first two made it over here as Renegade and Super Dodgeball.

With the success of Megaman 9 on most consoles as downloadable content, it seems Capcom is following up with another sequel to the Megaman series. Gametrailers.com has the debut game trailer for Megaman 10 coming out in 2010 with new Easy Mode!

In the days of the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, the House of the Dead provided players with zombie-blasting thrills long before zombies became cool. Fast forward to now, with the Wiimote making it easy for light gun rail shooters to make a comeback of sorts, with games such as Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Dead Space Extraction. What better time for Sega to reintroduce the House of the Dead to the masses? Of course with the popularity of games such as Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising, Sega had to insure that the new HOTD game wouldn’t be just another ‘me-too’ zombie shooter (especially after Uwe Boll’s misguided attempt to squeeze a 90 minute movie out of a game that can be completed in 20, and the forgettable HOTD 4). What better way to do this than with Grindhouse-inspired facelift?

Fox may have kinda dropped the ball with X-Men 3: The Last Stand and X-men Origins: Wolverine. Theres a lot of reasons those films weren’t as good as the first two movies in the series, and more than a few people think is because they didn’t have Bryan Singer in the director’s chair.
But now he’s rounding up the usual suspects of apt pupils and he’ll return with X-Men First Class. This prequel film will cover the early days of Xavier’s School and give us fun times with Beast, Jean Grey, and Cyclops.
Bryan Singer casually announced his involvement on the red carpet for the Avatar premiere, which you can see on Ustream (its at 27:21 in the video). His exact words, “I just yesterday signed a deal to an X-Men First Class Origins picture”
Superhero movies seem so common now its easy to forget that Singer’s X-Men was the film that started the trend back in 2000.
