Booster Gold Coming To Syfy?

Booster Gold, a football player from the future who traveled back in time for fame and fortune as a super hero, may be getting his own Syfy (SciFi Channel) original series. This was reported earlier today on The Hollywood Reporter.

Greg Berlanti, of this summer’s could-have-been-better Green Lantern, will produce and Andrew Kreisberg of Fringe will write the pilot. The same team also took a stab at THQ’s Red Faction video game series for Syfy earlier this year before the game publisher shut down the franchise.

A pilot for a proposed one hour weekly has been ordered, but no casting has been discussed yet. Eric Martsolf played Booster Gold in an episode of Smallville in the final season. Tom Everett Scott played the character in a single (great) episode of Justice League Unlimited, and reprised the role many times on Batman: The Brave And The Bold.

Booster’s best super buddy, The Blue Beetle, is not mentioned. Many, many volumes of this admitted second string DC hero are available both from his many solo adventures from his time in the Justice League. You can read almost any of them and they’re pretty good.

All The Worst (Best) Parts Of Green Lantern

On Halloween I constructed a crude but satisfying Green Lantern costume. I was pretty proud of it, and took my daughter out trick-or-treating. But, I still hadn’t seen the movie. Missed it in theaters, and hadn’t had a chance to watch the DVD yet.

And then I did watch it and… oh boy.

I wouldn’t say this was the worst movie ever, but it definitely had some really odd choices and some really bland parts. But! I will say that Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond was both ruined and saved this movie. His hammy odd ball freak performance ran against everything else the direction, story, and other actors were trying to convey… but since they were all so bland, he was the only one with any life.

So I made this video. Enjoy.

Marvel Announces Same Day Digital Releases For All Comics

Gizmodo is reporting that Marvel has announced that by April 2012, almost all of their print comics will be available the same day digitally the same day they are released in stores. This follows DC’s announcement to have day-and-date digital distribution as part of the new 52 relaunch.

Series will start having same day digital releases on a series by series basis between now and April 2012. The only exception to the digital comics are liscences properties and Marvel’s MAX imprint for mature readers.

Justin Bieber Drives The Batmobile

It may not be the Tumbler, but it does look like something out of Bruce Wayne’s garage. Justin Bieber, the 17 year old music sensation of immeasurably wealth and poor fiscal responsibility, hired West Coast Customs (best known for pimping rides) to make him a Batmobile.

Its a Cadillac CTS-V, coated in a matte black finish. The badges have been removed and replaced with the familiar Batman logo. As if to remove any subtlety from the vehicle, the word “BATMOBILE” is also stamped on the back. You’ll also noticed its been upgraded with Suicide doors, because why not. I’m sure there is also a booming sound system in there as well. Oh, and apparently the initials “Jb” appear in the detailing in the side, less you forget who’s car this is.

If you’re hoping he gets pulled over in this ridiculous contraption of childhood excess, then I have good news for you: TMZ reports he cut off a California Highway Patrol officer. Bieber was let off with a warning, but next time he’ll get thrown in Arkham.

DC Showcase: Catwoman

Here’s a nice animation short that was included with the release of the Batman: Year One Blueray disc featuring one of the original comic femme fatales, Catwoman!

Green Lantern: The Animated Series Begins Nov 11, See First Scene Here

Warner Bros Animation has a very strong history with DC comics, releasing Batman: The Animated series, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, and currently Young Justice. We’ve known for some time that Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, would be the subject of their next series and now we have a clip and a premiere date: November 11, 2011.

Something that sets this apart from any other DC project is its being done with CG rather than a more traditional animated look. It will not be set in continuity with any existing property, except with a loose backstory based on the movie starring Ryan Reynolds.

Because the clip automatically plays, click to read the rest to see it.
