As was reported on some time ago, Midway Games is in the midst of filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, as well as the possibility of having Warner Bros. buy them out. Well, you know what they say. When it rains it pours. Now it appears, since money is being thrown around, the producer of the two Mortal Kombat movies and owner of Threshold Entertainment – Larry Kasanoff – is now suing Midway to hold onto his IP rights over the movies and copyrights associated, as reported by GamePolitics.com
Kasanoff has stepped forward, claiming that not only were his movies and TV shows the main reason why Mortal Kombat became as widely known as it did back in the 90’s, but also that Threshold was responsible for turning game big-names like Lui Kang and Scorpion into the icons they are today with all the media it produced. Kasanoff’s suit also moves to block Midway’s proposed sale to Warner Bros.
So remember kids, if your ego is big enough and money’s involved, you can pretty much make up any bullshit story you want to in order to protect your “interests”. Lets all get out the rulers and measure just how big Mr. Kasanoff’s reach is.

That’s right kids, today marked the 25th Anniversary of the release of the original Ghostbusters movie into theaters on June 8th, 1984 – 25 years of classic spook-antics brought to you by the geniuses of Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis alongside the talent of Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.
So in tribute, I hope you all celebrated in your own way, such as listing off movie quotes to screw with the minds of family and friends alike. And don’t forget that the Ghostbuster video game, featuring all the voice actors from the original movies, will be released next week for pretty much all major consoles and the PC. It’s the closest thing we’ll ever get to a competent 3rd movie, so be sure to grab it!
The Blu Ray high Definition re-release, the video game sequel, and the double pack DVD of Ghosbusters 1 & 2.

And there was much rejoicing.
Looks like the ideas of a live-action Castlevania movie have been saved from the horrors of bad directing this time around. Bloody Disgusting reports that the movie, originally handed to AvP and Resident Evil director Paul Anderson and more recently thrown to Stomp the Yard‘s Sylvian White, the script for the movie has been pretty much put into the category of “development hell”, halting any further progress. While not declared legally dead as of yet, the thready pulse of the story meant to be the tale of Dracula’s origins in facing the Belmont Clan has seemingly been put into a consistent catatonic state of which there seems little recovery.
Of course, this is far from where the development was taking it in the first place, so really this change of course simply keeps the corpse of the screenplay from being utterly raped, and instead will more than likely pass into blissful death quietly.

Just in case you’re like me and thought “It can’t be that time of the year already!” Yup, it is. Tomorrow, May 2nd, is Free Comic Book Day. If you’re still not on the bandwagon from all this time, Free Comic Book Day is an event where a good amount of comic book stores around the nation give out, you guessed it, free comic books for the day to all who enter.
Check out more at – http://freecomicbookday.com/
So be sure to take a detour when you’re out tomorrow and pick up your free comic book from your local shop.
