BSG Star James Callis comments on Season 3.0

Battlestar Galactica SyFyPortal shared some comments about Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica made by James Callis, the actor who portrays Dr. Gaius Baltar. From what he says the series will take a darker turn than what we’ve already seen.

“In the upcoming episodes, the simplest way to explain what happens is that the wheat is separated from the chaff,” Callis said in an interview at this month’s Saturn Awards in Universal City, Calif. “I’m not actually sure at this moment which I belong to, which bothers me, whether I’m the wheat or the chaff. All I know is that we are necessarily separated.”

“And the first few scripts of this particular season are phenomenal,” he said, “and far darker and more gritty and more worrying than anything that you have seen before. I really am not just saying that. I remember just reading it going, ‘My God almighty, this is remorseless and relentless.’ And as such should be very gripping television. Even though it’s very, I think, the word is dystopic.”

Alternator Camshaft
TFW2005 is reporting that the next Alternator to be announced will be Autobot Camshaft, a repaint of Alternator Prowl. They have a number of pictures posted on their board here. Oddly enough his license plate says, “BLU STRK”.

Fast and the Furious 3

You can all add another checkmark on your list of movies that never needed sequels. I hadn’t heard about this until Rabban posted it in our forums, but apparently theres a third Fast and the Furious movie coming out, Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Release date looks like 6/16/2006.

I really have nothing else to say about that.

Four Horsemen FANtastic Exclusive voting for bust

Four HorsemenThe Four Horsemen have opened up another poll for the FANtastic Exclusive. Now that the figure is done, they are addressing the many requests for a version in the same size as the 2up they use as a prototype. The voting is for determining the popularity of a bust in the same scale as the 2up prototypes of the Minotaur figure, Xetheus, as well as whether the bust ought to be a faux bronze or full color. Below are the 2up painted prototype and the painted bust.

Guests for Botcon 2006

otfcc.jpgThe Botcon site has put up a guest list for this year’s convention. Since it’s the 10th Anniversary of Beast Wars, there will be a heavy emphasis on that series. Having said that, the guests listed thus far are Blu Mankuma (Tigatron), Richard Newman(Rhinox), Pauline Newstone (Airrazor) and Scott McNeil. Scott is the voice of Beast Wars Rattrap, Dinobot, Silverbolt, Waspinator, and Armada/Energon Jetfire among many many many others. The convention will be taking place in Lexington, KY this year: September 29th through October 1st.

SDCC Exclusive Checklist

San Diego Comic ConFigures.com has a checklist so you can keep track of all the myriad exclusives that will be available at the event. I’m not sure how one could qualify it as a checklist, but thats how they are billing it. Its good to have it all in one place.

Toy makers risk another season of blockbusters

Yahoo has an interesting article on how a number of this summer’s coming movies are having toy lines made. The article focuses on the DaVinci Code and how it relates to last summer’s Star Wars toy ‘success’. I say success in quotes because Hasbro just reported a large loss and blamed it solely on sluggish sales of Star Wars toys. The article also makes note of how awful things went when the toy line came out for the Phanton Menace when it turned out that it was not well received by audiences. They also mention how poorly Last Action Hero translated to a toy line and a number of the other movies coming out that will get the toy aisle treatment including Superman Returns, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest, and Pixar’s Cars.

It was interesting to note how X3 was seemingly absent from the entire article.
