New 2.5″ Sigma 6 Vehicle Sets

According to Cobra Island, BigBadToyStore has 4 new 2.5″ Sigma Six Vehicle Sets up for pre-order. They actually all look pretty cool, particularly the Mech and the HISS Tank, but we are still wondering why Hasbro came out with a 2.5″ line in the first place, when there was already a successful 8″ line for the franchise.

Because Sigma 6 is all about thumbing their nose at long time Joe collectors, so introducing a size scale different from the 12″ days of old, the 3.75″ 80s classics, or even the short lived 5″ GI Joe Extreme figures, the only thing left to do was abandon Sigma 6’s own 8″ scale!

I knew a smaller scale line was coming out for Sigma 6, but I didn’t think it would be that small. I thought that they would go the 3.75″ route. If anything, a 2.5″ toyline should be cheaper than a 3.75″ toyline. The vehicles look great, but how good are the figures that come with them? Also, will there be 2.5″ figures sold on an individual basis? Or are figures only available with the vehicles?

Ah, I was just going to point you here, which was the first sighting of the line at this year’s toy fair.

This line seem more of an excuse to fit vehicles into a line with figures that are too big to make feasible vehicles. Instead they sell them as these ‘Action Sets’. The 2.5″ figures are actually more like little pvc figurines, than action figures. There is almost no articulation to speak of from what I can see.
