Maximum Letdown: Waterworld (Virtual Boy)

As shown by this past week’s Top 5 segment, good movie adaptations are far and few in between. However, bad movie tie-ins are all too frequent, as shown by this week’s Maximum Letdown. A movie tie-in on the Virtual Boy? Forget about it.
You remember Waterworld right? That Kevin Costner flick that was incredibly expensive and failed to recoup at the box office which was basically Mad Max on water. It told the story of a post apocalyptic world where the polar ice caps have melted and dirt is a precious resource. However, none of that matters in the game. You basically take control of the boat, shoot at enemy jet skis, and rescue humans in the water. That’s it. That’s all there is too it. What else is there to say? Oh yeah, the one song that plays is a decent melody, even if it may put you to sleep while you’re playing. Or maybe the game itself will put you to sleep.
