No One

Castlevania 3 for japan had the VRC6 chip which provided 3 extra sound channels, 2 square wave and 1 saw tooth generators, but no FM Synth.

Great show as always. The GC tune kind of blows me away, I would have never thought to speed that up and figure that out. NES tunes are still the best, and I keep quite a few .NSF files around to listen too (how I wish the iPod could play these).

I’ve been considering buying a BPS Max controller for my Famicom. Do either of you have any experience with it or can recommend a decent controller with a decent length cord and turbo?

Always been partial to the Hudson JoyCard controller myself. �Length is not super long but it has turbo and the form factor of a regular famicom controller.

Shoot, for the Famicom? That’s a pickle, since the hookup to the board it a bit more low-tech than even the NES has available. I know they started doing that with the SNES/Super Famicom, but by then theirs were detachable…

I’m thinking about an extension for the port in the front of the Famicom. Like Vinnk says, it is the same as Neo-Geo, but can’t really find those either.

I’m pretty sure that extension cables for Neo-Geo consoles work with the Famicom, but those are kinda hard to come by nowadays.

Man, it’s too bad I couldn’t be there to chime in on this podcast.� Video game soundtracks are one of my specialties, and I could’ve expanded on so many of these topics…

Oh, and Utada Hikaru’s “Hikari” *was* written for Kingdom Hearts – the single actually debuted only a week before the game was released in Japan.� What Sean briefly alluded to, with one of her older songs being used for it, was slightly incorrect.� A melody line from a track (I forget which) on her “Deep River” album was used to replace part of Hikari’s melody for the English version of the song, “Simple and Clean”.� I realized this while we were both studying abroad in Japan, probably mentioned it to him then, and he got confused.� Simple and Clean also came later, by the way – there was no English language version of Hikari on the single.

Okay, I actually looked it up: it’s indeed Deep River, Track 09:�??????????????? (been trying to look up that Kanji character, but Kotoba doesn’t seem to think it exists. Worldlingo.com translated it as “Lie like ‘I Love you'”)

It’s just the chorus that sounds like Simple and Clean. The rest of the song sounds nothing like it or Hikari.Also, Hikari is track 12; I’d actually forgotten they were on the same album.AND, for some reason, I also have the Hikari single. Maybe it was for the remixes?

I played through the Genesis version of Out of This World in college (had it when I was younger, but could never figure out what to do). �It wasn’t until I loaded up videos of other versions on Youtube that I realized that the Genesis version runs like 4x too slow!

There was an official remake of the game, made by the original author. �It’s still for sale (cheap!) and well worth the money. �http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/index.htm
