A Powet.tv Original Movie:
September 16th is Mexican Independence Day. It’s just like Independence Day, only Mexican.

(This DVD was used as “research material” for “Mexican Independence Day”)
My brother Daniel and myself first had the idea for this movie over 10 years ago. It was when we were both really big on the movie “Independence Day” and we saw the day “Mexican Independence Day” on the calendar and thought “Wouldn’t it be great to make a movie just like Independence Day only with ponchos, sombreros and tacos?” Well tacos didn’t make it into the film and neither did other Mexican favourites such as chihuahuas and Jennifer Lopez but we still did our best to put the essence of Mexico into this movie. We even made the movie authentic by having all the Anglophone and Francophone actors speak all their lines in Mexican. No part of this film is, or ever will be, available in English, or even has an English translation existing.
This video was originally going to be released on May 5th, Cindo de Mayo, as during most of April I was under the impression that May 5th was Mexican Independence Day. It wasn’t until we were half done shooting that we looked it up and learned that Mexican Independence Day was actually on September 16th and so much more time was had to complete the movie, and while most scenes were shot in April, a few others were actually shot in August and September.
I would like to thank all my family and friends who helped me in making this movie. Their names and roles are in the credits at the end of the film.
