Transformers Movie Ironhide Custom GMC Topkick Rolls Out

A couple weeks ago I found a beat up second-generation Camaro on craigslist, and was sorely tempted to drop $3 grand on a car worth turning into Bumblebee. Due to the amount of work needed, I had to pass. However, another chance to own a Transformer has just come up.

Edmunds reports that Monroe Truck Equipment in Monroe, WI has teamed with Hasbro to customize GMC TopKick 6500 pickups to the specs seen on Ironhide in Transformers. Complete with the big-rig stacks and the 20 inch wheels paired with 40 inch tires. Oh, and the Autobot logo is molded into the back tailgate, just as in the movie. This truck may not turn into an actual Autobot, but it will transform your wallet to empty: Retail price is $75,000.

If I had 5Gs, I could turn my brother’s old ’75 Camaro into a nice ride. Needs a motor rebuild, freshened bodywork, and a new interior, but it’s pretty mechanically and structurally sound.

I believe you’re missing the point of the exercise. For what this thing costs, it better be correct. And that, Douglas, should at least include the brand-name after-market front bumper.

Admittedly I’m no expert, but darn if it doesn’t look close enough, and you sounded like many “nitpickers” I’ve encountered recently RE: the “real versions” of the film’s cars.

With that in mind, I apologize for grouping you in with them, and the use of the word “tool.” But I STILL have to stand by my observation–exactitude notwithstanding.

I don’t have notifications on, so hopefully I’ve diffused any anger–although I can see how my name calling warranted it.
