Transformers Shorts: On the Prowl

A pretty awesome video went up on YouTube yesterday:

It’s not terribly heavy on story, but technically this video is a marvel. The opening sequence is excellent (looks like it took longer to do than the rest of the “episode”), and the cinematography and sounds effects are definitely top-notch. (I just wish the voices were better…)

I definitely want to see more of this. If you like it too, we can make a point if letting you know when new episodes are available, but I’d definitely recommend telling the creator directly and/or subscribing to their videos!

He has a MySpace page too (linked from his YouTube profile). Apparently he was “on hiatus” until this video blew up recently, and now he’s rethinking his position… hahaha.

Yeah, I’m pleased that he liked my primetime videos enough to ask me to write a script for him, which I declined but offered to add in some gags if he gave me an initial script.

Now that I’m done patting myself on the back, I’ll pat his. The animation is incredible, there were a few scenes that were a bit too long and overanimated, but that’s a better gripe than being underanimated 😀

I look at it as more of a tech demo than anything. I mean, there was really no plot to speak of, although some character stuff shone through. I like the idea that Prowl is so damned jumpy that he’s ready to pounce (no Ravage/”Prowl” pun intended) at the slightest noise or provocation… hahaha.

Those transformation scenes are all very imaginative. If any more get made, they could definitely use a cohesive story, though. Next time he asks you to write a script, I say go for it! :p

I enjoyed it, although I’m a little cheesed I couldn’t comment because I wasn’t his friend. I guess that is an anti spam measure he instituted.
