Transformers 2007 Movie Optimus Prime and Megatron Prototypes

From a couple smaller fan forums comes fresh looks at resin prototypes for 2 of the biggest and most talked about Transformers figures for the new movie.

Gen1TF and Nuklear Power have diverging looks at what may be the Optimus Prime that will populate toy shelves this summer. Also, get a load of Megatron, who definitely takes after his Energon counterpart.

It’s nearly impossible to tell how big these resin prototypes are without comparison shots, but the level of detail leads me to believe we’re looking at something in the $40 range, like Transformer leaders of the last few years.

There’s been a lot of pictures floating around the net of various toys lately from this line, but I didn’t think many of them were that special until I saw these.

My belief is that the Prime and Megatron pictured together are the “leader class” figures, while the Prime pictured by himself all the way to the left will the be $90 “ultimate” figure.

Whatever that bigass prime is: his hand is backward, which makes me question the orientation of the entire torso.

In fact, look at his knees. I think we’re seeing the toy from the back, just with the head and arms turned-around.

I agree. his arm cannon is also on the wrong arm, if the concept art is to be beleived, so he’s definitely mistransformed.

It has been the case in many prior lines that Optimus has had both a Deluxe and a Leader class figure. I think that would be more likely than a second Ultimate figure.

Apparently I misread, the “ultimate” figures are supposed to be $60, not $90 and yes, the one with the backwards hand appears to be smaller.
